Anyone going through shock mount kits like they're going out of fashion...probably on third set in 18 months!

Does get ridden pretty hard, other pivots/bearings are all fine

Speak to where you got it from, something sounds wrong.

Had mine (mk3) 20 months, including 4 weeks in whistler, all I've had to do is grease the bearings, that are still solid as the day I got it.

What shock?

To my knowledge (and in my experience) these VPP frames can eat the lower shock bushing quite quickly. If you ride with he bushing worn the mount kit gets subsequently worn quickly. I've come to learn keeping a close eye on the pivot axles to ensure they're adjusted correctly to eliminate play helps a lot. As soon as there is some play in the pivot or bearings the bushings go quickly. If it's a fox shock I've found the white bushing from fox seem to last the longest for me.

Nope. TFTuned heavy duty mount kit on an old Mk2, was going for years. Now on a kit that came with a CC DB Air, and not the slightest hint of wear in the kit.

Is it the kit that's wearing or just the bushings? Are you replacing the entire kit when it's just the bushings that are wearing? They are designed to do just exactly that. Sacrificial component.

no more than other bikes i've had. got a mark 2 nomad and had to change the lower shock busing after about 18 months - 2 years, but as they cost a few pence not really an issue. also never had the reported bearing issues and never even had to tighten the pivot axels in almost 4 years of owning it.

are you by any chance running offset mount kits? i hear these can wear quite badly

If its the red kit that TFTuned put on it then it'll chew through these very quickly, Not sure what shock your running, what bushes or which MK Nomad you have though.

I had a FloatX PUSH Tuned last year and it came back with red Bushings, 3rd day in the Alps and they were shot. when i got back and as usual a quick call to TF resulted in Murray bobbing them in an Envelope at 15:30 in the afternoon whilst i spoke to him on the phone, I kid you not they arrived the next morning 09:30.

It was a batch they had and only fitted a few i believe, had the fawn coloured stock FOX jobbies on since, Not a single knock, creak crack or groan. As above, nip up the slack in the inner axle and keep the axles well greased.

Thanks all, it's the 2015 carbon nomad with a Vivid air shock

I'd heard about the lower bushings on VPP too, but these all appear fine. I've been using a bog standard TF kit each time, they aren't far from me actually so maybe I'll get them to have a look and see if they can spot anything obvious

I had issues with the shock itself. Felt like there was a clunk/wobble from bearings part way through the stroke but only on descend setting. Thought bearings/shock mounts but turned out its a vivid air fault and i got a new one in warranty. 2015 carbon.

Thanks Steve, Vivid air doesn't have adjustable settings?

It also clears up with new shock mountings
