My rear tyre on my GT Aggressor xcr is get kinda bald .I was out with a couple of mates last night in the Pentlands for a wee blast and was checking out my mates Cube with Nobby Nic tyres . Not much of a difference in price but are they ant better.
Both good for the pentlands. Take yer pick!
I run both on UST - NN's are lighter and a little quicker rolling on hardpack, ignitors are tougher, a little heavier and a little slower rolling but loads better on loose stuff or mud.
ignitors are tougher
not sure about that - personally i have ripped through a LUST and know a least 2 others who have done the same. in the peaks and lakes though, where there are rocks.
i'll never buy another ignitor.
My NN’s don’t seem to have survived the winter too well, with the back tyre suffering the most – found I was loosing traction on the climbs, just spinning out on anything approaching damp, so swapped the tyres over, thinking that the less worn front my give better traction on the back, while the old back tyre should still have enough grip for the front – FAIL - a couple of high speed near death experiences led me to go for the On One deal.
So nice new 2.35 Maxxis Ignitors on the bike and a South Pennines route planned for tomorrow - so I’ll post back up tomorrow & let you know how they compare
Thats some deal , decision made.
Yea I thought it was rather good an rather than agonising over which tyres and are en vogue - I’d just take a punt on them for less then £30 – even if they just keep me going over the summer – while I research other options
Right – tyre review after today’s ride – over Pennine moor land & the steep valleys of Calderdale – Maxxis Ignitors ran very well in all conditions – seem to like been pushed round corners on all surfaces – well controlled under breaking even on the steepest descents – smooth and controlled – downside were that at times they felt a bit draggy at times (although this could have been ‘cause I felt knackered)
Overall they felt very positive with perhaps a bit more rolling resistance then Nobby Nics – but I will have to give them a run round my local trails to be sure
Given what I paid for them I’m more then happy
