sorry, "front storage system". Looks really good! £££ tho, obvs.

doesn't need to attach to fork so will work with my Lefty! Adjustable mount thing looks clever, and they show it with light/Garmin/camera etc attached which is cool.

I like that, especially the accessory mounts.

I’ve got the Aeroe Handlebar rack, and the one thing that (slightly) irritates me about it is the difficulty mounting lights and GPS when it’s attached.

my gripe with bar bags on my gravel bikes has been the squashing of cables into the top tube and paint rub.  Looks like this solves that problem, though at a rather spendy cost...

yeah, looks like they've addressed most (all?) of the main issues, I'll probably put one on my Chrimbo list 🙂

Looks really well thought out, and being Tailfin will be well made. Very spendy though. I want one!

@iainc I've solved that using one of those handlebar extenders from the chinese marketplace.

I'm going to print a pair of bar bag supports to solve this exact issue:

As a big fan of their top tube bag, which I bought with some Christmas money last year, that does look fantastic.

I am unlikely to get the much Christmas money though.  I should give in and just get a handlebar spacer for my existing bar bag.

It looks good to me.  Some of the people I ride with are happy with a big bag strapped to the bars but I really don’t like lots of load on the front of my bike…  but this looks like something I could live with.

Great design from Tailfin as usual, but the price is ridiculous. One for the dentists.

Or you could just use one of these:

£25..

In all seriousness, my mate i ride with took one of these baskets, then got a piece of guttering, heated it and opened it out to make a carrier and attached that to the Klickfix from the basket and just straps dry bag to it, done him great service for 6-7 years and never broken or come loose...

It has some good points; particularly that they've considered the need for it to work with lights. However, my Revelate Harness works with lights, is lighter, less complex, has fewer bespoke parts, is cheaper and also works fine on both straight and drop bars just by using a different drybag. I'll not be rushing to change.

TBH, the Decathlon handlebar harness is only £45. Add a drybag at £20 and bobs your uncle.

Having seen the Tailfin bar bag in the flesh, at a recent promo, it does seem to be very well made and addresses my concerns about head tube rub.

Not sure I can justify the price, though.

My main issue is that the diameter is too small. On my gravel bike I tend to stuff a 13 litre drybag in a sling, which I'm sure has a fatter diameter than the 180 mm of the Tailfin (large) ones. So whilst it's very neat, it wouldn't be much use if it can't hold as much stuff as I want. I guess if I got a rear carrier / panniers etc then I'd have plenty of space for everything!

I like Tailfin gear - I like how they've actually thought about it from a pure riding & using perspective and certainly don't have an issue with pricing, they're at the premium end - hope they continue.

But I don't have any, as I already have other nice bags bought to replace my first foray into bikepacking with a cheap Podsacs set.

They had a stall at the Bespoke Cycles show in Manchester a few months back and were demo-ing all their kit, they did mention they had a bar bag in the works. No doubt about it, it's all amazingly well thought out, super secure in use.

Off the back of that, I bought a Wedge frame bag which (to me) has become one of those "how did I cope without this?!" items. Swaps between bikes in seconds, it's really well made and rock solid once fitted.

A friend did a bikepacking ride/race event a while ago, she said the startline was like a Tailfin convention!

One of the guys I follow in Insta had one on test at a recent event.

I was considering one to be matchy-matchy with my rear rack, but £230 is silly money

I doubt they'll have trouble selling them though, what with Gravel being the new MTB (which was itself the new golf) 😉

Lots of comments and even indignation about the price of this bag.  It is expensive but nobody is forcing anyone to buy it.  I suspect though that many will.  It is a chunk of cash but loads of stuff is… my tyres cost £180  a pair and the back one will be near worn out after four trips.

I think that a company that spends lots of time and effort on development, brings innovative stuff to market and, compared to many consumer goods, manufacturers in relatively small volumes will have to charge a fair whack for its goods.

The Blackburn outpost uses a version of Rixen and Kaul fitting, but I had one ages ago and it rattled off road and isn't very adjustable, so not a direct alternative in reality. Looks incredibly well engineered and is very expensive, but will be worth it for some.

Well, we have £1200 forks, £1000 brakes and etc etc .. premium kit with proprietary parts, tested and developed properly .. it's not cheap. ime + imho, this isn't that expensive for what it is. It's just premium kit. A great bike trip is worth so much and bike travel is so important to me, I'd pay £250 for a great bar luggage solution. A USA made Swift or Gilles Berthoud bar box is £200+. For me this isn't it, but that's only down to the basic design and my own preferences - there so many ways to do it and to fit different bikes. It's also is a reminder of what great value UK-made Carradice gear is, if it suits your needs.
