Surely it's designed for "any" speed as long as you fit the right bits?

Looking forward to seeing pics of built up bikes, however all these comments on the over-speccing of cable/hose guides has kinda put me off getting a frame.

C456 is the same, it's not a problem though. Still thinking I might dremel them off but they weigh nowt and add options.

Thanks Andy, going to have a mess about and see what I can bodge up, seems to be more the length of the metal cage that interferes as opposed to high or low mount?

The brake line mounts are badly designed, that front one is so close to the head tube that it completely kinks the brake line if you use it?

Will post a pic as soon as it is totally finished tomorrow

I've just slapped on an old low mount mech and there is plenty of room. Lots of FS frames only take low mount mechs so its not really a problem. Once its built you hardly notice the extra guides and I'm sure they'll come in useful when it turns into a commuter in a few years time!

This is kinda ironic- the ones on my 456 are absurdly far back, so that it almost looks like there's one missing.

No they aren't for full length outers, unlike old Scandal frame.

still need to buy a tapered headset for the scandal build.
using standard 1 1/8th steerer suspension forks.

on-ones smoothie headset seems fine but a bit expensive?
can anyone else recommend one either cheaper or better at the same price. best place to buy it?

cheers

Looks goooood!

Is it your first Scandal?

If not, I'd like to know your thoughts from the original Scandal!

Regards.

The angle the front near side gear cable enters at the headtube is worrying!

Get that saddle nose up too 🙂 Natural contraceptive innit.

Very nice Bazz. Mine is coming very slowly - only the crankset and derailleurs so far!

What headset is that? Looks nice and low.

How are the Rebas? I was holding out for 29er SIDs but I can't see the point as the weight is the same.

Just finished building my raw frame up an hour ago, rides so much nicer than the old Scandal frame, feels a lot stiffer going from old frame with 1 1/8 headtube and fork with 9mm QR to the new tapered headtube and the Reba's with 20mm thru-axle!

I still don't think that the gear cables running under the downtube and not being able to run full length outers is good in winter, but will have to invest in some Gore cables i think.

I'm trying my forks at 120mm first see how it handles, if no good, then will drop them to 100mm.

I've no light in garage, so will post some pics tomorrow.

Headset is an On-one smoothie mixer, haven't had a chance to ride it properly yet so can't say much for the forks performance but they are light and smooth.

Must admit took it for the first real ride tonight with the forks at 120mm and i think that it rides great with the slightly slacker front end.

theflatboy,

I've been down to On One and seen the built up Scandal!
Definitely raw is the one to have over the other colours simply because the finish is rough IMO!

Its a term of endearment and display of affection from Tazzy to his Scandal frame.

And your not that vertically challenged, its just you have short arms with long pockets.
