Help!Â
I'm off to do the telegraph and galibier with some roadies weekend after next. Myself and a fat tyred pal don't fancy a second day of slogging uphill and I was hoping to go to Valloire Bike Park on the second day. Just realised it's shut as are many of the main spots which is a major bummer. I've never ridden in the alps and was naive to how short the season is.
Any tips on where to go as close to Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne as possible for a day of enduro bike hire and chairlift, or failing that ebike for winch and drop. I'm expecting to be pretty flat after the first day so no xc marathons please.Â
Scouring the internet is coming up with little without driving to Portes du Soleil, maybe Bardonecchia?
TIA
Don't fret about missing out on Valloire. Was there a two years ago.
It's ok for a day, but doesn't offer much. Nice scenery.Â
Most parks in France are open from mid July till the end of August.
Bardonecchia Is open from June. It's got a decent rep amongst my Italian biker friends. Planning on visiting in a couple of months time.

Les Orres is open from 20th June onwards. That's where I'm heading in a couple of weeks.
I realise this is missing the brief of the OP spectacularly, but if you like road riding enough to do telegraph-galibier then just make the most of what you have to hand and do some more road riding rather than driving?
The ride you are doing is challenging, has history, you'll definitely be able to see the tour go up it at some point and is definitely well worth it. However it's quite busy with traffic including motorcycles and knobs in performance cars. So for day two do another climb that's off the beaten track, peace and quite and chat to your mate on the way up.Â
I did lacets de montvernier, col de chaussy and Madeleine one day (which is less climbing than that sounds as one goes into the next) and barely saw a car. Same for going up the Glandon from the north side and then onto croix de fer (again a negligible amount extra climbing).
For MTB I half remember seeing a webpage about the number of off road routes up galibier but they're certainly not uplift and would probably be much harder than a road ride.

Yeah just looking for an easier day after the road climb and we're going two weeks too son for a lot of uplift resorts. Sunday 14th is day specifically. Sounds like Bardonecchia might suit our needs. Don't need anything too extensive or gnar. It's a bit of a toe in the water and an excuse to not have a second sloggy day on the road.
