Picture caption in the linked article says it's a foam fairing

I have a friend that has a pet parrot, on the one hand when it's being adorable it is incredible, on the other when it's being destructive it's a chainsaw with wings. Amazing animals. I am so glad I don't have one.

Be careful sharing on Facebook, the admin of a fairly large Facebook group got a 24hr ban, apparently the image constitutes bullying?!

Perhaps it had a different caption...

So what are they made of?

I think they're an aluminium rim with a carbon fairing. The fairing is non-structural, surely, so the wheel will still be functional.

Should meet my cat, she has an unerring instinct for my Shakedry jacket, and her claws always need sharpening 😭😭

My lad's mate has 3 older sisters. He got a parrot, and he taught it to say "**** off Gina" when the middle sister came in the room. Ignored everyone else.

Not seen them since before lockdown and bumped into Gina the other day. Usual niceties, asking how the family was and I couldn't resist "Has Joe still got that parrot?" "Yes," she said. "And yes, it still says it"

That’s awful.
And pretty funny.
Not for gina, obviously.

Definitely not carbon fibre, unless they forgot to put the actual fibres in, and used extremely soft resin

Just remembered we have tent with a hole pecked in it by a parrot. Whilst we were back packing in New Zealand. Luckily it's at the base of the bell

They're the old CXR wheels. Aluminium rim with a plastic "carbon look" aero shroud glued onto them and injected with foam resin to stop it rattling.

Could probably just pull the whole thing off and have the normal alu rim, completely rideable.
