Or do you have a mapped out of last years route?

Want to try to pre-ride and assess difficultly for a mate who maybe on a singlespeed fully rigid

Is this a standard gorrick course: lots of singletrack, naf all climbing? If so I might have to have a go?

Don't know hence why I'm asking 🙂 It will be my & my friends first time riding it so were trying to get prepared.

Unfortunately his choice of bike is rather limited to a rigid single speed so would like to pre-ride a lap before the event to make sure it;s doable.

It changes subtly every year, it'll be fine on a rigid SS, it's Swinley, there's not much climbing!

Last year we went up the wall, but haven't in previous years, there's rarely anything to really cause much of a sweat.

You can do a lap first thing on the Sunday, the course is open for the 7 lappers - which I'm assuming you won't be doing 😉

But if you just go over to Swinley before and ride, you'll probably cover a fair bit of the course.

I've done it the last few years, and can only imagine that a rigid SS will mean lots of pushing and sore wrists - why not hire a bike?

PS and ignore the comment from neej20 (met him yesterday at Leith Hill), he's young, fit, about 8 stone and riding a blinged up FS

It'll be fine. Mix of typical Gorrick singletrack and fireroad for recovery / eating and drinking. Also, you don't say if you're planning the full 7 laps or a shorter distance.

Ridden Swinley a few times on a rigid SS... It'll be fine...

I, too, have ridden swinley on a rigid ss and found it okay.

I'll be on a 'normal' xc ht, my mate has a choice of a genesis IO or an alpine 160.

We are debating going for the '7' as a kind of personal challenge, rather than racing.

Can ride 4-5hrs without much issue so I think 7-8 hours should be doable with som determination.

Haven't decide yet tho!

I'll be 7 lapping on a rigid SS - it's a toughish day out, but the Swinley trails make it fun enough to distract from the pain :^)

Remember it's 7 10 mile laps (or there abouts) rather than a given amount of time.

Let's hope the weather holds...
