[Closed] gisburn forrest

No not yet, there are big plans and funding has been secured, but serious trail building only started last August, but just by volunteers, so only small sections completed (where machinery can't go). Contractors either have started or are about to start laying trails by machinery (they can do in a week what trail builder volunteers can do in 4 months or more).

There are old routes marked out but mostly on forest road and of little technical interest, certainly not an alternative to Whinlatter at the moment.

Its good enuff if you find/know the unmarked tracks. If you fancy exploring and aint in a rush just try any unlarked tracks that you see.
