I purchased a used 5.5 EVP and if I grab the rear wheel and pull it side to side it does feel as if there is general movement. Is this something that all intenses suffer with or I have been sold a dud ?

Can't remember the same amount of flex on my spider.

A well known characteristic of them I'm afraid. The newer style one piece swing link helps a bit but there's not much else that can be done.

That said they're awesome bikes. Get the offset shock mounting kit from BETD to slacken the head angle about one degree and it makes a world of difference.

Thanks for your expert opinion there al 🙄
I certainly enjoyed mine while I had it, it's certainly a flyer.
Flanagaj, get a decent shop to check it over mate.

Could it be the bearings?

See MTBR forum site for details of upgrade kit to later bearing kit without crush tubes and zerk grease fittings.
I believe the kit is retro-fittable

Some great ideas. Bearings seem fine, but I will check out MTBR and BETD. And I do agree it is a very plush ride

The 5.5's go through bearings very quickly, ask the last owner about useage and when they the bearings last got changed. Best thing to do is take the shock of and run the frame gently through it's travel also to move it side to side with the shock off. If you need a set of bearing that will last a long time check this out.

If you need any advice on fitting and don't mind speaking with a singletrack outcast, email me Kael.

I just tried my mates 5.5 (my old one) with new bearings and bolts correctly torqued, neglible movement.
