Strong Island by JVC Force, utterly brilliant track. Use to hear it all the time on pirate stations in London circa 89! Public Enemy as well (saw them twice in the 80's).

Also like the deckreca and most stiuff that was on ronin records from 90's, and the Egyptian Lover tracks from the 80's...

80's hiphip was whack.

Seriously you LOSE. Hip hop developed in the 80s and grew at an alarmimg rate. If you missed it, you don't really understand it. maybe you should stick with eminem?

Loved 80's Hip hop, but don't really have much time for most new stuff. Don't know if it's just nostalgia or that I get sick of hearing about sipping cristal or however you spell it.

There are tracks from public enemy, grandmaster flash etc that will probably be played another twenty years from now, there are very few classics coming up from the Nu skool.

BontyBuns, what is hiphip?

I never rode a Klunker whilst wearing flared jeans. I don't really understand mountain biking.

Sorry. As you were 😳

Jungle Brothers - Done by the forces of nature. Genius album from start to finish.
De La Soul - 3 ft etc. Under-rated since and derided as kids stuff. Big fail.
Tribe Called Quest - not 80s, but Low End Theory was their masterpiece. Best hip hop album ever?
Public Enemy. No further explanation required.
KRS One. Likewise.

And going off piste a little...
MC900ft Jesus?

Jay Z? 80's?

He can't even rap, which is a bit of a problem if you're a rapper.

no no no ... osteotomy were a fantastic nerdcore hip hop act from the early 90s based in Turkey.. they were very well recieved on the underground scene in Munich and Michigan.. one of their best numbers was 'talk about femoral head' a scathing attack on the embryonic rap industry of that time that people are so fond of confusing with hip hop in the present day..
