I've just installed an E13 DRS Chainguide to my new Paradox and it seems the chainline is out of line. 🙁
The BB is an HTII and I'm using an old Deore crank but when in the outer of the 2 front rings and the largest rear sprocket the chain jumps on to the small front ring, the chain also skips around on the back fromt time to time. ts not that the cassette & chain are worn as the problem only started when i installed the guide and goes away when i take it off. 😕
There is one spacer between the frame and outer cup of the bb on the drive side and i can't remove that to move the crank further to the left because then the bolts for the inner ring is tight against the frame/chainguide mount and so the crank won't rotate. 🙄
Anyone got any thoughts/ideas on how to solve this issue ❓
I trimmed the plastic sections behind the cranks so the cranks rotated fine, had to have the back plate against the frame with a spacer between that and the BB cups. Took a little surgery but works great now
Graham, the problem is that the bb sits in the middle of the backing plate not on top of it (so to speak). The crank bolts are up against the metal mount that attaches to the ISCG tabs. As a result cutting it about will not solve the problem 😕
AH, in which case I don't know, sounds wierd though
yeah i cant figure it out myself, been trying all night 🙄
Ok just worked out the difference.
Mine is attached using a BB backing plate not with the ISCG mounts, it meant that I could move the BB in relation to the backing plate by moving spacers, because yours is mounted direct it sounds like it just wont fit, although I don't believe that just yet
Is the roller too high in relation to your front sprockets?
No its not the backing plate that the roller sits on its the metal backing plate which attaches to the ISCG tabs, I'll try to take a picture later to show what i mean.
Yeah thats what I mean't.
Its a bugger, some bike just don't seem to fit E13
The iscg tabs on my frame didnt match the tabs on the drs, although they were correct iscg, had to put it behind the bb instead. As graham says some bikes dont seem to suit E13.
Ok cheers guys, might be going on the classified in the near future then 😕
You might be able to get a new backplate for it that fits round the bb instead of on the iscg tabs rather than sell it
You sure the ISCG tabs on the frame are straight?
When I put a Stinger on my Paradox the one tab stuck out a shade more than the other two and wouldn't let the crank turn. I gently bent it into line with the other two. Works great now.
SSS - Yeah its catching on all 4 on the inner chain ring bolts. the Blackspire Stinger looks to have the same mounting mech as the E13. 😕
Think I'll dorp it in to my lbs and see if they've got any ideas 😉
I've just remembered that I also had to use a 1mm spacer on the drive side to get it to clear the grannyring bolts.
What between the bb & frame stu?
There is already a spacer between frame and bb cup but its causing a chain line issue as per my original post. I tried taking it out and thats when i couldn't get the crank to turn 🙁
Goes off to have a look in the garage.
Right.
There's a 2.5 and 1 mm spacer on the drive side between the frame and the bb cup.
Thinking about it I also fitted some grannyring bolts that sit flush with the ring too. The Shimano ones stuck out a bit.
SLX double and bash setup BTW.
Cheers Stu. I think fitting flush bolts to the granny ring will solve it.
I owe you one 😉
