Not a tracer 2 but I'm running them on my 6.6
I use a 2mm hole offset which reduced the head angle by about 1.5 degrees and dropped the BB by 1/2". Much more stable at speed now, very happy with the results.

My question is kind of Tracer 2 specific....

Basically I bought one bush just to see what would happen - Didn't bother to check it would fit as I have read lots of forums where people say they have done this.

Anyhow I haven't fitted it as it looks like its not going to work. If I remove all of the air from the shock and completely compress it my front mech cable is just about to get crushed by the linkage. Were the bike to sit any lower in its travel that cable would be crushed on full compression.

Understandably a lot of people don't run front mechs these days and I could potentially change the routing but..... at full compression there is approximately a 2mm gap between the seat stay bridge and the seat tube. With the offset bush fitted this is either going to impact on full compression or be so close that there would be no room for any flexing etc.

...I don't think I could fit one never mind 2 bushes

...but people have, which is what I don't get. The only thing I can think of is that people fit the offset bushes and run the bike in short travel mode, this looks as though it would work. But no good for me, I want all the travel I paid for baby.

...or I could be completely mistaken....somehow?

Hi Guys,

Jeron from offsetbushings.com here.

We’ve had many orders for the Tracer 2 over the last few years with no reported issues at all. So people seem to be getting on okay with them! Just to add to the mystery.

Just had a thought - these frames are hand built....

I wonder if the man who welded my frame together decided for some reason to weld the seat stay bridge a little higher up the stays than he normally does?

Perhaps he thought I needed more mud clearance?

My old tracer 2 used 2 x burgtec offset bushes to not reduce the eye to eye but to fit a db air into long travel mode so they do fit!

sandal100

If you were not reducing the eye to eye then you would not have encountered this problem. My intention was to use the bushing to reduce the eye to eye and slacken the geometry

On mine the shock didn't fit in with an offset bushing in the linkage end of the shock (an RP23), oriented to reduce the i2i.

Yeah, it's me Nick. Hadn't checked the leaderboard, didn't realise you'd got it back, well done! Needs to dry up a bit now I reckon Steve before you go for it! Still bottling your jump on kamikaze though Nick, love the rest of the trail, just not convinced i can do the jump and make the corner!
