Comfiest push on grips?

[#13535331]

I've used ODI Attack/ODI longneck pro grips for decades, tried some others a while back, but they've not really given me the comfort of ODI. The ODI's are nice and grippy, but the soft compound is a compromise sometimes, as the mushroom ridges can collapse easily, especially on old grips. The non pro versions are less grippy but hold up better, but can be a little slippy.

When I was trying others previously, most grips were lock on types and as I use gripshift, limited the choices for decent push on. ESI silicone were OK, but found them a bit slippy with wet hands (rain and sweat with fingerless gloves), nothing else was that appealing. foam grips were a bit thin and I like quite a thick grip, I think the ODI's are about 32mm dia (with a couple of wraps of electric tape under).

Wondered if there were any new ones to consider since push on grips were having a bit of a revival. most recommended I've seen are Gusset Sleepers, but to me they just look like longnecks. Anything else worth considering as a 1 + 3/4 grips?

TIA

Oury (can get push on or single collar lock-on). Best grips I've found.

Oury in the past, comfy but a bit small for big hands.

Jones kraton ?? rubber. clear and very long. very comfy.

Another ESI (and other similar grips) user here.

After a while you sort of get used to the fact it's not so 'grippy', you're meant to hold the handlebars, gripping them just gives you arm pump, you're not really trying to stop them rotating.  Going back to bikes with solid rubber grips feels weird now.

Tried ESI & hated them. Came here to shout out ODI Longnecks...

However if you are lockon curious, can I recommend the Josh Brycland Burgtec Bartender grips - the cut out in the plastic sleeve does give them a more push on grip feel.

That said when they wear out I think I'll be back on Longnecks...

For me, it was Race Face Good n Evil. I have 2 pairs that I use as a treat for time to time! I have revgrips with different size sleeves which are OK.

Currently using SQ Labs push ons which are ok and softening with use. I have long necks & Renthal extra tacky but they are too thin for me.

I love ODI's F1 grips. They're a sort of foamy but still fairly dense rubber, so they're a lot like an ESI in some ways but they don't go as slippy, and they're enormously more durable- none of that "destroyed in a single crash" thing. They have good feel but seem to take out a bit of vibration and sting. Not much between the Float and Vapor imo, I've had both and never really notice a difference in riding but the float has a wee bit of end protection which is useful. Basically I've got fairly banged up hands and these guys are the most comfortable grips I've ever had while also being pretty practical, I have them on everything.

They're not super squishy if that's your thing, not as much as an ESI Super Chunky but for me squishy is a double edged sword in comfort terms, it can be a wee bit tiring.

I have tried those. Think I got them on a bike I bought. have to agree, very thin..

I'm a loose grip and let the tackiness of the grip keep my hands in the right place type. which is why with damp fingers there is zero grip with the ESI and I found my hands were slipping off the bars, meaning I had to grip the bar more.

The oury's look OK. not that familiar with the 'big squishy pad' type grips. I guess I'll end up with one oury, one ury..;-)

I use the Oury. Actually made by lizard skin and knowing that can make them easier to find

Much prefer push on grips and I've now taken to using lock wire to secure them.

Sleepers are like Longnecks but in a better (IMO) all round compound.

I have a set of Wolftooth chunky (or whatever they call it) foam grips. They're very similar to the ESI, but they have lasted far, far longer. I think they're 8 years old, have probably done +10,000km and really don't show any signs of needing replacing.

Found the same and I don't have big hands by any stretch of the imagination. The grip is absolutely brilliant - like wrapping double sided gorilla tape around your bars but found that my hands ached after a while. I have the same issue on my gravel bike at the minute - bar tape I've got just isn't thick enough.

lizard skins used to do thick bar tape, and you can get 'gel' bar tape too. or double wrap...

Had Death grips on both my bikes and put Longnecks on my most used one. Took the other out at the weekend and instantly put in an order for some longnecks to replace the death grips! 😂

I got them cheap on Amazon but have since seen them really cheap on Aliexpress so wonder if I've bought some fakes but they seem as good.

There’s loads of Longneck type grips in the bmx world. BSD for one make a very soft grip in that style.

Interesting, my Chunkys lasted only half a year - they became very much hand shaped and were becoming uncomfortable as foam was so compressed on high pressure areas.

They still looked mint but maybe riding subzero temperatures ruined the material.

Was going to suggest the Renthals as I love mine (hate chunky grips). Glued and lockwired they're great.
