I just bought this dropper used. It was purchased from Wiggle in february 2021 so it is the newest version with no air valve (i.e. sealed cartridge).

150mm, 30.9 internally routed version.

The dropper will not stick in a recessed position when letting go of the locking mechanism. It will only go up and down when pressing on the dropper itself with my hands.

I have taken the dropper apart and checked för faults inside but can't find anything.

There seems to be proper pressure in the cartridge.

Anyone had this problem?

I have already ordered a replacement cartridge, just wanted to know if it is a common problem

The posts are pretty simple to take apart as there isn't much to make them work.

Its a long pin which sits inside the cartridge, you push the pin (push the lever) and the cartridge extends or compresses. When the pin comes out (stop pushing lever) the post should stop in the position you want it.

Service guide is here:

How much? It needs 300 PSI or it wont work right.

@benpinnick its a sealed cartridge so pressure cannot be changed.

Dont bother messing around with it and just contact wiggle to arrange to return it and get a replacement or your money back.

The brand x dropper posts have a reputation for being bombproof. Sounds like you've picked a duff. Just warranty it

A new cartridge is about £30, it's not serviceable so that's your only option.

Thank you for all replies. It seems you are right, not serviceable and not possible to change air pressure on these newer versions. so only remedy was to order a replacement cartridge for approx 40EUR. Only paid 35EUR for the defective dropper so still cheaper than a new one.

Just be aware there are different sizes of cartridge not only in length but also in the diameter of the cartridge.

The cartridges with a nut on the top won't fit inside the body type which comes with a cartridge which has an allen bolt in the top.

The narrower ones have a shiny outer shell to the cartridge whereas the nutted ones have a brushed finish.
