Bike Parks in, or near, Czech

I'm off to see my biking buddy in Prague next month and we're going out for a couple of rides. There's some fairly decent stuff locally that will work as a warm up but we want to do a day's uplift somewhere. Anyone got any pointers for us?

Don't know about uplift, but a few friends who live in Berlin make the trip to this place occasionally....

More trail centre than uplift, but better than any riding in and around Berlin.

Beer is cheap, too!

Oh.... And Špindlerův Mlýn/ Spindermühle...

It's a ski resort, but I think they take bikes in summer.

And then there is Špičák.... A small, but decent, bike park in the Bohemian Forest on the border of Bavaria.... And then there's Geißkopf just over the border.

Did a road trip years ago including Czech.

Spent a few days at Spicak which was cool, and went to Podsmrkem too which as mentioned is more of a trail centre. You ride across the Polish border there which was kinda cool.

Spicak is closer to an Alpine style resort. Worth going to .

Špičák looks good but the lifts are only open weekends at the time I'm there and I'm only there Mon-Fri.

Geißkopf is a strong contender.

Pretty sure there's a trail centre near Trutnov.

We were there years ago in winter and I'm sure when I searched on yt lots of the results were mtb related. Also seen a video of a guy getting chased by a bear, I think.

Trutnov wasn't uplift when we went but is very technical.

Podsmrkem is trail centre but very flowy fun and well maintained. We also went up on a cable car somewhere near there, 20 minute rocky pedal over the hill and then some off piste riding along the Polish border. Can't remember exactly where but should be able to spot it from that description.

If you go to Geißkopf , let us know what you think. I'm there in June.

Curious about Spicak too.

Geißkopf is a strong contender.

Was there last summer. First time I've been back in years.

For what it is, it's relatively expensive... 40€ for a day pass.

~230m of elevation.

A rough, almost neglected, downhill track. A couple of wood laden freeride tracks. The Evil Eye 1 freeride with the wooden banking isn't bad, but a bit samey after the third turn. The two enduro tracks are too flat, with too many roots and zero flow and are not worth the effort, ime.

The Flow Country trail is, however, great fun. Unfortunately it's over too quickly, but it's a very well built trail.

If you're there on a weekend be prepared for long, long queues for the lift. Worth buying a 10er ticket (ten rides of the lift) for 44€ rather than a day pass as you'll be hard pressed to get ten runs in when it's busy. A five minute run and a 25 minute queue was what we experienced one day last year.

Fortunately they replaced the incredibly slow single seater lift a couple of years ago with a much quicker four seater.

It looks like we’re combining a trip to the hot springs at Karlovy Vary with a day at Trailpark Klinovec nearby. Anyone been there?

For anyone searching in the future I did a 4 hour uplift at Klinovec yesterday. It’s only a few quid more for a full day so I’d suggest doing that as we only got 4 lift in because the queue was huuuuge;

IMG_6704They’ve got 5 trails;
Blue. 10km long and sort of fun.
Red. Shorter but faster and lumpier. Good fun.
Black. Shorter again starting with flow with tabletops into fairly technical and reasonably steep.
Orange Tech. OMFG!!! My buddy didn’t ride this one. Fortunately. Steep and janky with some pretty big rock features.
Orange Flow. Big gap jumps. Didn’t ride this one.
