What cages actually work on frames like the full suss Cotics where the bottle is horizontal? Tried a few on my Starling and none actually hold a bottle? Suggestions please.
I have a cotic arriving soon and asked this question, a lot of people said specialized zee cage
The Fabric Cageless Bottle worked well for me, though if you want to be able to drink whilst moving it's basically useless.
Thanks, I just sold my Stumpy which had one fitted, should have kept the cage! I had the most luck with the Bonty side loading cage which is fairly similar but that still ejected bottles...
The Fabric or the Fidlock are on my radar too.
Specialized Rib. The Zee is still a side load, so if you got a bit radical on you bike & knocked it with your knee it can pop out.
The Rib cage is ridiculously tight getting a bottle in.
Zee.
Don't forget, because it's upside down, you need a left loading cage if you want it to be right loading, and visa versa.
And it's important that you have the right shaped bottle. The detent notch isn't always at the same height. For that reason, I always recommend Specialized Zee or Rib cage and Specialized bottles. I'm sure others will work, but that takes away any doubt.
Be very careful to check that the cage and bottle clear the shock and shock mounts when the suspension is active. The cage placement on my Flare (medium) looked fine until I actually rode the thing when in reality there wasn't enough clearance and it rubbed shock and shock mount. Ended up with this less than perfect solution.

Otherwise, Zee Cage as recommended.
I have 2 Ribs (I think, they're old and have the rubber bit in the middle) on another bike, haven't tried them as they're pretty tired. Will have a play about.
These things grip pretty tenaciously

I plan on trying the fidlock, though never had problems with the Fabric cageless which is the fallback option.
King Cage grips very well, v. light and lasts forever ... bit pricey though. You can compress the ti inwards so it grips firmer.
