Got a place for this yrs event, sent the guys a message asking if they have any contingency for defering places if governments restrict travel - just wanted to know if it would be an option if covid regulations persist ( also due to Bojo and the gang sending mixed messages about this summer). This is what i got back:
Hello, I understand the situation.
We do not postpone registration.
too difficult to manage.
Sorry,
Samuel , team French divide
wasnt too difficult 9although a right pain i imagine) for the folk at dirty reiver who have to deal with far far more riders...
Not unless I lay my hands on a time machine, it's 2021. I suppose it's the email equivalent of a Gallic Shrug.
Last year it was a full refund if the event was cancelled. Plus full refund up to June 1st then withholding €30.00 admin fees up to July 1st.
Passportes are making the same sort of noise.
2020 was delayed a few months, and then postponed until 2021.
Their message has changed a few times, but they've pointed out that it's not a 30 strong management team putting it together, if it runs, and you can get here, have fun, if it can't run they'll come up with something, if it runs and you can't make it, sorry. You can always sell your tickets via the FB group.
At the moment, the FB group mostly consists of people trying to buy tickets for this year because they decided not to sell any new ones, that said... who knows what will happen Boris is well, being Boris. The easing of restrictions will be irreversible, unless they're not, their won't be vaccine passports, unless there are and whilst it's all well and good him saying we can go on Holiday this summer, that might have to change and France might not agree - especially given we're not exactly bestest mates with the EU at the moment, this has all the hallmarks of Boris banging heads with the EU over Vaccines passports and the tabloids lapping it up / winning him votes.
That's even before we consider whether traveling to France is a good idea for us, and the rest of society and the added complexity with Passportes that half of it is in Switzerland.
I don't really care about the money, if come Monday Boris tells us all it's not happening this summer than I suspect there will be thousands of Brits trying to sell their places on FB, they'll be all but worthless.
