it must be about 1990 as i think the non-elevated chain stay came first ( i got my cro-mega dx with e-stays in 1991 ) but this is going back a fair bit so i could be wrong

I would prefer the e stay one really, older, I hadnt thought of that, maybe it is..

Will I need some kind of fluro lycra to ride it? 🙂

Normal frame was first the dx was yellow (you'll need dark glasses) and the xt was black. suprised that there are any left as all of them that I came by broke or got cracks at the head tube. the raised chain stay bike was just as bad. They were very popular about about 1989 (Normal) to 1992. As a ride they were very fast and what we'ed now call an xc bike. I loved mine apart from the breaks. Do you remember MS Racing that the Alpinstars design team came from?

I had a cro-mega with elevated chainstays, looking back at it now it weighed a ton but it couldnt half bloody climb!!!! I reckon one of those would be a superb retro project.

I had an Al-mega DX (non e-stay) It was a lurid yellowy green colour, i'm sure it was 1990 before the e-stay model.
Was a great bike, though the alloy seemed very soft and dented really easily.
Wish i'd taken some pics of it though.

Al Mega XT, non elevated, must still rank as one of my favourite ever bikes. I loved them at the time...
