I've got a 2nd hand Alfine turning up this week, gonna be running it on my Trance.
any long term users got any advice on getting it up and running quickly / smoothly and general usage?
How will you release/tension the chain when the suspension moves?

As far as I can see with my alfine they just work.
You can use sprockets from the nexus hub as wellwhich gives a better range of sizes and they are dished which allows you to reverse them to adjust chainline.
cool, I guess I'll just fit it and see. not too sure of the sprocket size and hence gearing yet but if nexus ones are readily available then it should be easy to sort it.
Offroad? Mash or spin? with an 18 rear the hub has the same ratios as a 1x9 11-34 cassette. So 32 front is a decent start point. want higher bigger front, want lower bigger rear.
