[Closed] Ahem, can you still get 'decent' V brake 26" suspension forks anywhere?

Resurrecting an old Specialized Stumpjumper Comp for youngest daughter to use. It orginally had Fox 80's fork with V brake mounts but they are pretty well mullered and the the lh top cap spinning/not locking out. Rest is worth saving and pretty good really so just need some okay forks. Aside from trawling ebay for used any recommendations/leads for something suitable? Something a bit better than budget crap. Cheers
ps - 1 1/8" steerer tube, 185mm min. Normal QR
pps- maybe should put this in wanted section

XC28 seems to be the highest current RS offering with v brake posts.

Pretty sure they did have Rebas is straight steerer and V brake still a couple of MYs ago. Might be worth trawling the online shops?

Retrobike.

I have had two forks off there that are proper decent old skool (Manitou Mars Pro and Marzocchi X-Fly) with v-brakes. The Marzocchi particularly was uber plush and yummy to ride.

No reason why you can't put a disc on the front is there? Doesn't make it much easier to source a fork though.

If it helps, my stumpjumper of similar vintage rides really well with a 100 mm fork.

Thanks for the answers. Got it cleaned and up and running today but with a rubbish set of RST forks from local tip, they work but very heavy and flexi. So will try retrobike or looking for those XC28. Don't really want to change to disc (and wheel)unless I really have to. Pic of original FOX Float 80RL ones too but they are leaking all over the place and the left hand cap just spins, no lockout etc, I guess the cost of fixing these would outweigh just getting something else. Any further leads appreciated.

Disk wheels are very cheap in 26" now it is obsolete. I think that would be my preferred solution. If you are keen on sticking with Vs I've got some nice Magura Quakes. Really stiff, precise fork. They are pretty old but lightly used and been sat in the shed for ages. No idea what they are worth but will be cheap. V and disk compatible so you'll have options

I still have a pair of Bombers from around 2002, they work fine. Currently as an upgrade on my Kona. Also a pair of Fox Float Rs I think on my Stumpjumper from c. 1998, they are disc only.

Though they are now a bit different to ride, I'll be quite sad when I no longer ride the 26" MTBs in the shed, they are still a lot of fun.

Does she need a sus fork? Plenty of rigid forks with V brakes available.

You've got disc mounts on the back!!
Set of shimano disc brakes from CRC cost me £30!
Wheels from superstar, or off here.
Could be an option.
