As per the title I’m happy with anything other than camping. Even a shed with my sleeping bag will do. Need to be able to store by bike safely.
I realise there are better routes up there but I’ll get lost on my own.
Travelling up from Cambridge. Cheers
Yha Keswick .secure bike storage and a comfy bed for the night
Thanks Steve I’ll have a look
Manxies on tour were meant to be here early July. Obvs we couldn’t, but all rebooked for exactly 1 year to the date.
Heard great things btw.
Cheers pipiom, I’ll have a look!
YHA looks nice but seems pricy for a hostel, although maybe I’m out of touch
A shed with a sleeping bag you say?

Not sure if they are taking bookings at the moment. £12 per person per night. Coin op shower, “dining room” (old cattle stalls), upstairs sleeping platform.
In Grizedale:

Whinlatter, you're sort of restricted to staying in Keswick which is comparatively more expensive. However there are plenty of B&Bs, hostels, AirBNB and camping pods around the place.
presumably OP is after digs nr Keswick/Whinlatter to do Grisedale Pike rather than Grizedale forest which is 25 mile away - although you could stay anywhere and drive the last bit into Keswick in the morning pre-ride. worlds your lobster then...

I read it as following the trail centre waymarked routes at Grizedale Forest and/or Whinlatter Forest because of the phrase:
I realise there are better routes up there but I’ll get lost on my own.
But yes, they're not exactly next door to each other, it's easily an hour's drive to get from one to the other considering the narrow roads into/out of Grizedale and going through Ambleside and Keswick town centres.
Lanefoot have pods
Or you could try the golden lion for bnb in the centre of keswick
Thanks all, YHA is fairly booked up.
Yes I meant both trail centres. I’m not too fussed about the drive between them.
Are the natural routes easy to follow, might have a friend coming along with a garmin thingy. Plus I’ve got my phone for any mapping needs.
Natural routes vary from the simple to follow to positively cryptic. From Grizedale area Walna scar route is pretty easy as is lap of coniston water. You won't have signal in a lot the valley bottoms, so unless you've got offline mapping on your phone buy a map, they're 8 quid a pop.
I've done Grizedale after getting across the lake on the launch, makes for a proper little adventure!
If these guys are back up and running your laughing Denton house penrith rd Keswick or
Thirlmere, Fisher-gill Camping Barn offers free onsite parking and a terrace. Set within the Lake District National Park, the hostel is at the foot of the Helvellyn Mountains and just 5 miles from Keswick.
