[Closed] 700c frameset with v-brake mounts needed - any ideas?

Need a frameset with 700c wheel size but with v-brake mounts. I don't want discs as I've already got some nice wheels and parts that would work with a v-brake setup.

I used to have an orginal kaffenback that would have been perfect but a) they are disc now, b) headtube was too short and c) I never want to own another Planet X or On-One in my whole life, I'd rather walk.

Any ideas for new or used framesets to look out for? I am on the cheap end of the budget scale......

Any old canti CX frame? Specialized Crux?

Don't really want a cyclocross frame as they generally are a bit extreme in their geometry.

No too fussed about tyre clearance either as long as I can fit guards on it.

Surly? They normally have lots of options.

Trek Hybrid frames pop up on the bay for much cheapness occasionally.

surly

specialised tricross (not as agressive as a full on cross bike)

older Kona Jake - again not a jake the snake the original JAKE was more a touring bike.

Cross-Check fits the bill, pretty relaxed geometry but a fork you could use as a boat anchor. A bit pricy for what they are new but you might find a second-hand bargain.

Are you considering touring bike frames?

I already have a touring bike so kinda wanted something a bit lighter and nimbler to ride round town.

Have a search for Specialized Sirrus Pro from a few years ago. Similar idea to a Roubaix but a bit shorter in the top tube so you could run flat bars (or size up for drops), with the Zertz inserts, 'comfy' position, tall head tube and v-brake mounts. Total Fitness Bath had a great deal on one a while ago but it looks to have gone unfortunately.

So a touring frame isn't nimble enough but a CX frame is too extreme? Might you be over-thinking this? 😉

That is very likely.

Cyclocross frames sometimes don’t have the right mounts for racks or guards though.

Specialised Tricross is a good call. Used to have one a while back and I didn’t like it at the time but it would be perfect for my new plans.

I've been half-heartedly looking for something similar to transplant parts from an unused Boardman Team. Didn't really come up with much other than the Tricross and Kaffenback although as you say that's now disk and not sure I want to deal with Planet X.

I've an RSP Bravura cromo 700c frame for sale in gloss black with a rust-preventative coating inside, 52cm seat tube, 57cm effective top tube, sloping top tube geometry. It's one of these:
https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/RSP-RALEIGH-TOURING-FRAMESET-4130-CROMOLY-D-BUTTED-VINTAGE-NOS-RETRO-NEW/232133418787?hash=item360c3adf23:g:OvcAAOSw0e9UwjD4

Unused with a few storage marks, inc. seatpost, clamp & a headset.

I bought it as a gravel-commute r type thing for it's niche-ness rather than a planet X or cotic but never built it up.

Email in profile if your'e interested.

I've a Kinesis Crosslight 5T bought it second hand frame and forks (was a CX race bike) used as my commuter last year with full guards and rack, now without the rack but with full guards it's my winter club run bike, weighing around 9.5kg. Originally had canti brakes but value my life so fitted XT V brakes with travel agents, now using TRP CX mini V's which are superb.

My brother has a large Tricross that is doing nothing. Forest of Dean.

Just leave the parts on the Boardman team?
