Can this be done , with what effect
35m would be a bit of a stretch, 35mm OTOH is fine.
35mm inner width rim is the perfect size for 2.6 tires. Just go to the Maxxis website - they have a chart.
Yup, a proper 2.6 will work nicely on 35mm rims.
Depends.
A Maxxis DHF2.6 comes up canny big and (I found) round with the centre knobs high. Better than on a 23mm rim, though!
Specialized Slaughter, Butcher, Hill Billy come up way smaller, though profile is good (though they are still shit tyres made of crepe paper and a waste of money).
I run a 2.6 Mich Wild X Enduro on a Hope Fortus 35 - no issues. Its got the right shape profile etc. Works well. Same for the DHR2 WT
I have 35mm rims on my recent bike purchase. They're perhaps not what I would have chosen and with my usual 2.3" tyres the tyre profile seemed off (too square - at least with a Rock Razor which comes up small IME). But I'm liking them with 2.6 fr and 2.4 rr (DHF/DHR combo), it seems to give a nicer profile.
No problem at all. I have both standard Maxxis 2.6 and their "Trail wide" 2.6 on 35mm rims.
I also have 2.6 Nobby Nics on Hunt 30mm rims with no problem too.
They're fine as has been said. I run 29x3" DHR on one bike with 35mm internal rims. I've got 29x2.6 on another bike with 30mm internal. Not worth worrying about really.
I run 2.5 on 21mm if it helps, not died yet.
35mm inner width is ideal for a true 2.6". Running the above with WTB Ranger's and it works well, as does 2.6 on a 30mm but needs slightly higher pressure to prevent squirm in the corners.
Have a 2.6 Ikon on a 29mm rim. Feels perfect.
2.5" Assegai WT comes on the 29mm internal rims of a Marin SQ3. The rim/tyre charts say its at the bottom end of what a 2.5" should fit. It's a good shape. Doesn't feel uncontrollable. 30psi and no flats yet.
