Road this event last year at Catton Park and it was really good. Has anybody heard if it will be on again this year? It would be a real shame if it isn't as there is a lack of 6,12 and 24 hour events up in this neck of the woods. I use to do a lot of competitive racing in my 20's (now in my late 40's). I got back into racing a few years ago and really enjoy the endurance racers. However I find myself having to travel down south for a lot of events which proves to be quite expensive. Sleepless wasn't on last year and although I did Mayhem I didn't enjoy the course. Can anybody suggest any other events which I could consider that wouldn't involve a 200 mile trip each way from Manchester?
Singletrack 6 and sleepless both arent on this year something to do with lack of sponsership????? and me like you didnt think too much of last years Mayhem, and its another half an hour south!!!!
All the best endurance events seem to be down south or up in North Scotland, us Northern Englanders are getting a shite deal at the moment!
Is the Weekender on this year then? hope so one of my favorite events ๐
Imho the above events were as dull as dish water and was surprised they lasted so long, no one could have that much fun going round in circles for hours on end on the same old muddy soulless circuit!
Great event here in May @ least 8 hrs of riding for the 75km one lap ๐

Or how about: http://www.xcracer.com/raceentry/viewevent.php?event_id=608
4 and 8hr cats. on the brand new World cup xc course and with extra bits.
Both the events suggested look good, but both are the best part of 400 miles round trip for me which is why I am looking to do something at little closer to home.
You've got Afan, Brechfa, Cwmcarn and BikeparkWales along with the Black Mountains and brecon Beacons within 30mins/1hr ish of Margam, so you could have a few extra days off and ride some new amazing trails too ๐
there will be a very large 24 hour event a few minutes from Manchester next year.
Selkirk 143 from Manchester and the majority on the motorway!
Any chance you can tell me anymore about the event near Manchester next year?
Also don't want to sound like I'm splitting hairs but I live on the South side of Manchester and from my doorstep to the event in Selkirk it is 183 miles each way. I accept that is not quite a 400 mile round trip but it is close enough. I don't mind the travelling, it is the expense of petrol etc. If there is anybody in the Manchester area who fancies doing either of these events mentioned or any other for that matter which require a bit of a trip let me know. I don't mind taking my car as long as we split the petrol.
