NukeProof Digger Factory 27.5 L
The Mountain Bikers’ gravel bike! That’s why I bought it- ridden it up to the local woods on on the easier singletrack trails, and on some single and multi day gravel/multi surface trails. The last one being the Marches and Castles 4 tour which convinced me I just prefer MTBs for any kind of rides! Having had a few gravel bikes tho, this is the one I kept for the longest- it’s a lot of fun on blue type trails, and even steeper rocky stuff we found on the last tour. Way more capable than me even with a rigid fork. Fast enough on the road, fun enough on the dirt :)
Pretty lightly used tho- less than 800km from new in March 2022. Never even ridden in the wet!
Spec is standard (see below) except for:
- Richey VentureMax WCS 460mm bars
- 12 speed GRX mech cage and a SLX 51T cassette (less than 200km old)
- Frame protection from new
- 2xCarbon Planet X bottle cages
- Mudhugger Gravel Front (less than 200km old)
Both of those hugely improved the bike for me. Wider bars with more flare made it a lot better to ride on the tops, hood and drops. Gravel bikes 1x tend to come undergeared if you live anywhere hilly or are bike packing, so going for a bigger cassette opened up a lot of terrain. It’s a pretty well known “hack” and works perfectly. Original bars, cassette and mech cage will come for free as part of the sale.
It’s also had a mini service before heading off on the tour. Greased freewheel, new sealant, new brake pads F&R, etc. There’s a few tiny cosmetic paint scrapes where the frame protection isn’t but I’ve tried to show these in the photos.
It’s a really versatile bike, if you wanted to try bike packing I’ve a set of Alpkit bags that fit it perfectly- Bar, Frame, TT Wedge and the Koala 13L seatpack with ExoRail. They fit and work really well, and they’ll come in at a very keen price.
