Shimano PD-647 “Downhill SPD pedals”

I’d say spares or repair.
I dont know much about the history of these (or I cant remember).
I dont use SPDs, so i cant test them – I wouldn’t know if they were good or bad.
The issue I see is the “end cap” on each pedal has had one or more slots cut into it – no idea why this is. See pictures.
The plastic cages are complete. They have scuffing on the outboard edges.
The “platform” of the plastic cage looks hardly used.
The SPD “bits” look used, with some corrosion visible.
The axle/spindles turn OK – no roughness.
The pedals look like they were cleaned and greased before being put away.
