[UPDATED] 2024 World Cup Teams: Who’s Gone Where?

by 27

It feels like there has been a bit more upheaval in the world of DH World Cup Race Teams since the 2023 season finished.

Not least the sad ‘n’ bad news of several teams just calling it a day. No GT, no Orange, no MS Mondraker and such. The current fiscal woes of SIGNA Sports has caused any Nukeproof-related teams go rather quiet.

Monday January 15th was the deadline for teams signing up to the UCI. So we should know everything there is to know by close of this week. Ish. It’s a bit like the last day of transfer season in Association Football, apparently.

And yeah, we’re happy to give a shout out to the 2024 Team Rumors thread on Vital MTB – happy trawling if you can face it!

Here are some key confirmed Team moves

  • Greg Minnaar leaves Santa Cruz Syndicate and joins Norco.
  • Thibault Daprela leaves Commencal Muc-Off and joins Canyon CLLCTV DH.
  • Ethan Craik leaves GT Factory Racing and joins Scott Factory Racing.
  • Jess Blewitt leave GT Factory Racing and joins Cube Factory Racing.
  • Jamie Edmondson leaves Chili Racing Brigade and goes privateer (not Privateer!)
  • Joe Breeden leaves Intense Factory Racing and joins er, Intense Factory Racing(!)
  • Angel Suarez leaves Primal Unno Project Race Team and joins Frameworks Racing.
  • Ryan Pinkerton leave GT Factory Racing and joins Mondraker Factory Racing.
  • Tuhoto Ariki Pene leaves MS Mondraker and joins MS-Intense Racing.

Here are the main riders we’re still waiting to hear about

  • Vali Holl leaves RockShox Trek Race Team.
  • Aaron Gwin leaves Intense Factory Racing.
  • Brook MacDonald leaves MS Mondraker.
  • Danny Hart leaves Cube Factory Racing.
  • Ronan Dunne leaves Continental Nukeproof Factory Racing.
  • Dakota Norton leaves Intense Factory Racing.

Have you spotted any confirmed moves?

Let us all know in the comments.

Mondraker Factory Racing unveiled today – but have wait until later this week/next week to see who’s riding.

Current speculation is Ronan Dunne, Dakota Norton and Ryan Pinkerton.

Can I just say that I have a massive man-crush on Neko Mullay, what he;s doing is amazing.

Any rumours on what Gwin is doing?

That’s the only one I think has escaped me now.

Has Vali Höll announced where she’s going yet? Rumours were YT I think, or maybe just onto Trek’s main team?

Don’t think so no…. Neither has Danny.

Danny’s on Nukeproof. I think doing his own semi-privateer thing.

In true team rumours style, Ronan was riding moto in Alpinestars kit, which is what Mondraker Factory are in, so that’ll do as confirmation for me.

Rumours are Gwin on Yeti but not sure if that’s based on anything other than him and Richie training together.

I think the Trek Factory team is unchanged, so Vali to YT seems nailed on.

Brook is still riding a Mondraker.

    Open secret apparently.

Someone shared some Mondraker marketing artwork showing Dak, Ronan & (apparently) Pinkerton.

    Should be an exciting team.

Last time I checked Leogang was very definitely in Austria. I wasn’t expecting venues to change teams.

    “Secret” no more!

Still no word on Gwin as far as I can see, thats a shame. He did such a good job in the booth last season and it was good seeing him get back to some form in the 22 season.

Yeah, I assume Gwin is still putting a package together himself – bringing sponsors together as he usually does rather than seeking a factory ride.

I’ve just read that the semi finals no longer to be held on the same day as the race, they’re now moving to later in the previous day, after qualifying.
Still don’t massively see the point of semis but I guess it’s a step in the right direction?

Its to end up with a watchable final rather than having lots of people who are never going to worry the podium get in the way between the ladies final and the pointy end of the mens.

    UCI team lists out today.

Danny Hart riding for Continental Nukeproof Factory Racing, and Brooke MacDonald riding for Forbidden Synthesis.

    Nothing showing Gwin yet……

    @Boardinbob – not got to ‘S’ yet – SRAM Nukeproof…

Fingers crossed for Eliot, Kelan & Dan in the EDR too.

Hmmm, doesn’t appear to be a Nukeproof EDR team listed……

Adam ‘Grandad’ Brayton & Jono Jones are on a team:

About time Brayton had a team 👍

BNC looks a bit like a band of privateers grouping together rather than a trade team. Guarantees then pit space and a bit of collective clout.

So looks like Aaron Gwin’s GWIN RACING team was missed off the UCI list……

No Nukeproof SRAM team either – gutted for Nigel Paige, Sam Hill, Elliot Heap and Dan Booker.

Nukeproof SRAM Racing has Not been Entered as a UCI Team for 2024

Sadly, the Nukeproof SRAM racing team has not been included in this year’s list of teams with the future of its place at World Cups looking uncertain. As part of our reporting, we reached out to the team where it was confirmed to us that it was not entered as a UCI team for 2024. We were told that no solid plans could be made for the team while Wiggle/CRC remain in administration.
