Van Gals VLOG: Dreamy Singletrack in Châtel

by 0

By this point, we’re confident you all know who the ‘van gals’ Carly and Emma are. For those that don’t, come join us for a brief recap of the adventures and mishaps the two mountain biking van dwellers have had in recent months.

Pizza Powered Pass’Portes

Originally featured in issue 127 of Singletrack Magazine, their honest and relatable account of one of France’s most popular events gained the gals an instant following.

Having not previously informed Carly of this climb, my guilt bubbled slightly as she began to softly weep. Her aversion to anything with even the slightest of gradients (she once complained that BikePark Wales had “an under-advertised amount of pedalling” despite an uplift…) really did not do her any favours.

What’s Zermatter With You?

It was Carly’s turn to tell a story for issue 129, when the couple took themselves to Zermatt without doing much research about parking, or prices…

The Van Tour

Giving the fans what they wanted, the gals gave us a tour of their van, Travis. A self build mobile home with zero experience in converting a van, the girls documented the process for a magazine feature and followed it up with this tour:

Châtel Singletrack

Now for the latest instalment in their travel adventures, the duo headed to Châtel to ride some ‘dreamy singletrack’.

The track runs above the small village of Chatel and weaves across the hillside between farms, cows, fields, woodland…

After around half an hour of glorious singletrack you arrive back at the cable car for round two, or in Carly and Emma’s case… a pint in the nearest pub.

To keep in the loop with the comedy adventures of these two, take a look at our subscription options. From as little as £2.50 per month you could not only enjoy all these stories in full, but you could support an independent UK mountain bike magazine that is all about the lifestyle, not just the bikes.

No genre of biking is turned down, though she is happiest when at the top of a mountain with a wild descent ahead of her. If you ever want a chat about concussion recovery, dealing with a Womb of Doom or how best to fuel an endurance XC race, she's the one to email.
