This weekend, Newnham Park in Plymouth will play host to the 2018 Pivot TwentyFour12. This is the 13th edition of the event, which encompasses a whole host of races and events centred around the main 24-hour mountain bike race. There are kids races (both time trials and dirt criteriums!), the Mach 6 Enduro race, a social ride to and from the Dartmoor Brewery, and there’s even a separate loop setup for people to demo bikes.

Pivot Cycles is the headline sponsor of the event, and has gone proper large with demo bikes especially for the event, having combined both the UK and European demo fleets together to create the single largest array of Pivot demo bikes in one location. Riders will have their choice of models such as the new Trail 429 and Firebird 29, and there’s a bunch of Shuttle e-MTBs for those who are e-curious.

As well as all the other stuff that’s going on, the main event kicks off at midday today, with both 12-hour and 24-hour categories starting at the same time. The course is new for 2018 – as it is every year. It’ll take in many of the same sections from previous year’s races, but the course is shorter at around 10km, and the orientation has changed to provide more singletrack for competitors.

There are some absolutely cracking pieces of trail in this course, so we decided to slap the GoPros on to head out for a lap, to give you a bit of a look at what’s in store for all the folks who are here for the weekend at the 2018 Pivot TwentyFour12. Strap yourself in for some mediocre riding at average speeds!

If you’re not familiar with the event, you can check out more details via the twentyfour12.com website. We’ll also be broadcasting from Newnham Park via our Facebook Page all weekend, so stay tuned for all the action from the event!
