Core Bike 2016 – The Evil Wreckoning

by 1

Barney caught a look at the Evil Wreckoning at the Core Bike trade show this year, and it’s an absolute stunner:DSC_0794The Wreckoning is very much a gnardcore bike – it’s a 160mm travel 29er, and it can clearly go very, very fast – here’s Luke Strobel winning a DH race on a prototype last year:

It’s got the typical Evil linkage system, with two link-pins delivering all that travel to a Monarch shock, keeping the centre of gravity nice and low:DSC_0795

You want angles? Well, you can tweak the geometry, but it’s a 66.1 degree head angle (HA) and a 74.8 degree seat angle (SA) in the ‘low’ setting, and its ports a 65.5 degree HA and 73.9 degree SA in the ‘Extra low” setting – arf. Reach on the medium is a rangy 431.8mm, with 637.5mm stack. Not bad numbers at all.

It’s going to be available in two colours – Megalodon Blue (were they really??) snd Satin Gunmetal.DSC_0800It’s Boost (isn’t everything these days?), there’s internal routing DSC_0801...and it’s got this sweet built-in chain device, with an optional e-thirteen lower.DSC_0797Price? The frame will set you back £2,899 when it’s available in March from Silverfish

Barney Marsh takes the word ‘career’ literally, veering wildly across the road of his life, as thoroughly in control as a goldfish on the dashboard of a motorhome. He’s been, with varying degrees of success, a scientist, teacher, shop assistant, binman and, for one memorable day, a hospital laundry worker. These days, he’s a dad, husband, guitarist, and writer, also with varying degrees of success. He sometimes takes photographs. Some of them are acceptable. Occasionally he rides bikes to cast the rest of his life into sharp relief. Or just to ride through puddles. Sometimes he writes about them. Bikes, not puddles. He is a writer of rongs, a stealer of souls and a polisher of turds. He isn’t nearly as clever or as funny as he thinks he is.

    Amazing looking bikes!
I’ll see how my friend’s Insurgent lasts through the season.
