We managed to bump into Top Chief and Dude of Hazzard Joe Barnes after his first day of racing and got to see his new bike…
Not that one, that’s just for transportation to the Landship II
For Finale he’s racing on a tweaked Canyon Spectral CF, a bike that’s going to be available to buy from around the 10th October. And before you ask, at the moment there’s no plans for a Dudes of Hazzard edition.
The lack of Shape Shifter and it’s switch saves 200g’s compared to the Strive.
He’s also running a 34 tooth ring in place of his usual 36, which reflects the amount of climbing this weekend of racing entails.
The chainstays have the self adhesive fuzzy bit of velcro added to cut down on chain chatter.
He’s running 760mm wide bars, with slim Ergon grips, and as usual has folded his numberplate to reduce wind resistance.
More weight saving comes in the swapped out XX brake levers matched to guide calipers which saves a bit of weight over stock Guide levers.
Canyon have developed their own 142x12mm through axle which replaces the Syntace on previous models.
Keep checking Canyon’s site for more info…

Pretty sure the Spectral CF doesnt come with a shapeshifter option
@euans, it does mention that it’s new model he’s on. Though after all the fluff about shapeshifter and how much he uses it it’s a bit sudden to be binning it…
Is Fabien still running the Strive / Shapeshifter? Thought it was meant to be the answer to all things Enduro?!!
@Northwind, yeah, the new model is the Spectral CF but it doesnt come with a shapeshifter option so it’s not been removed at all, it just doesnt exist on the Spectral CF
Saving weight by eliminating the odd rotor bolt too!
