Word from north of the border for all you 24 hour race fans…
With 24 hour solo riding considered one of the toughest and challenging championship events in the global calendar, the opportunity to be recognized as the best is regarded as one of the highest accolades in the mountain biking community. However, with no world championships in 2011 and the yet-to-be-announced venue for North America in 2012, many riders are uncertain about the future of 24hour solo racing at world level.
With this, it is with great delight that No Fuss Events today announced their involvement in the future of 24 hour solo racing. Collaborating alongside two of the most prestigious clubs in the world, 24hFinale Ligure and Canberra Off Road Cyclists, No Fuss will be aiming to provide an all new championship where assurances can be given to riders as to the stability and continuation of solo 24 hour mountain bike riding on this scale, where they can be confident of a worthwhile and planned series of competitions in order to have time to sufficiently prepare.
Frazer Coupland from No Fuss Events and the Outdoor Capital of the UK said ‘It is marvelous for Scotland and the Outdoor Capital that we will be welcoming another world class event, for us the opportunity to work alongside Australian and Italian colleagues over the next couple of years will be amazing and will show us what we need to deliver in 2014”.
A confirmed long-term schedule will be announced by a new consortium of events shortly for a new world solo 24 hour mountain bike competition. It is essential to allow riders to plan for the next 3 years, this will be:
2012. May 19 & 20, Finale Ligure, Italy
2013. October 12 & 13, Canberra, Australia
2014. October 11 & 12, Fort William, Scotland
A new website will be launched shortly. In the meantime, riders for 2012 should apply to the Finale Ligure event site, contact details below. Finale Ligure will deliver a week long mountain biking festival, with the World 24Hr Championships on the first weekend, a week of mountain bike fun, and a team 24 hour the next weekend.
No Fuss Events will coincide the 2014 event with their own, already well-recognized Relentless24 hosted from Nevis Range within the renowned Witches trails at Leanachan Forest and highly regarded as one of the best 24 hour events in the UK. Entries are already open and filling fast for the 2011 race. No Fuss today promised that if you are a solo rider in this year’s 2011 event, there is still a chance to secure a trip to 24h Finale Ligure in Italy next year.
24 hour solo riding is expanding massively and with our involvement we are hoping that for once, there will be a huge Fuss!
