It’s Friday and that means Fresh Goods! It’s like trial by fire but with comments made over the internet replacing the flamey element. First up, we featured the new Giro Xar helmet last week but we’ve got a new Giro Hex. It’s had the Roc Loc retention system reworked (this is now version 5) to be lighter as well as easier to use. Matt has been listening to Chaka Khan this morning which should explain the hand gestures…

Sim is enjoying the gentle touch of the first Forest Stewardship Council certified bike brush from Green Oil. The handle is made from wood from the rubber tree and you can use the pointy bit of the handle to clean your derailleur sprockets. Green Oil say the natural bristles are long enough to get into all sorts of crevices as well as being lovely and soft when wet but regaining their shape when they dry.

You might have seen the Mucky Nutz Bender Fender 2.0 in our Pro Bike piece with Mark Weir. We’ve got a selection of their flexible fork fitted mudguards in various subtle colours. It seems to have reverted to the standard wet weather up here so we imagine we’ll get plenty of use out of them.

Matt is modelling a 2011 Camelbak HAWG NV. It’s a all day size pack with all your usual pockets and pouches…
..the really interesting bit is the new bladder. It’s got a revised twist lock lid which should put paid to finger numbing struggling, the hose detaches from the bottom and there are little sunglasses-style arms that hold the bladder open to dry. It also uses a baffle in the bladder so that it doesn’t turn into an uncomfortable sausage shape when you fill it with water.

More new Camelbak-ery! This is a Octane LR and it’s a small pack made for adventure racing and so on. It’s designed to be worn on the hips a la Wingnut rather than in the male pregnancy simulator style Matt is modeling it in.

Fret not! We’re not gone all guitar-ey, it’s just that Chipps has got himself some new ones..
Andy from Andystand popped in today to show us the new, improved Andy Stand. It’s now wider and has a longer prong so it’s even more stable. It also comes in a nice shade of orange too…

We’ve also just been visited by Pat from Ison Distribution who had some shiny new Salsa bikes with him. Here’s the Salsa Ala Carte withrigid forks up front and a back end that you can run geared or as a singlespeed via rather neat adjustable hinged dropouts.
From: Ison Distribution
Here’s a better look at the Salsa CroMoto rigid unicrown forks on the front. Old skool Cannondale Fatty looks but made from steel so they should have a bit more give than the latter.
Price: £79.99

We also got a look at the big wheeled Salsa El Mariachi Ti, made from lovely titanium. It looks amazingly in proportion for a bike with big wheels..
The Halo XCD wheelset on the Ala Carte is also new, weighing under 1,600g and costing £250. Ace value.

dare2b kit is cracking stuff!
Is that a door to Narnia or just a door leant on a wall for displaying cycle clothing?
New Camelbak bladder looks like a vast improvement
Second the D2B comments , been using a cheap digitalis soft-shell from the winter
Bloody good value , works well , really interested to see what’s in store winter 10/11 and summer 11
If you can get over wearing what some label lovers call a budget brand it’s good honest kit
Those are Klein S-5 Stratocaster pickups by the way… for those after a bit more of a mid-scoop like Fender’s Big Dipper pickups. OK, I’ll get back in my box. 🙂
I think you have all our thanks for not allowing Matt to model the “Dare 2B Ladies Zoned Out Vest”
Nice pickups! any chance of clips Chips?
I’ve always wanted some Texas Specials…
have the made the HAWG any lighter? cos my one weighs a whole kilo! forget the other stuff about the bladder, it needs a diet!
Andy Stand is a brilliant idea, so simple, and so useful
BUT £40!
it’s simplicity and ease of manufacture should make it cheap
why isn’t it dammit?
(sorry, but we’ve not had a “HOW MUCH????” comment yet)
Liking the Salsas
hey some nice womens clothing !
perhaps next year camelbak could make their bladders a little easier to open? which other blader manufacturar has a blumming tool as an optional extra ffs?!
nice 1930’s door, fancy selling it. Im one short for my extension and that matches the existing ones!
All the D2B stuff I’ve seen/used has been poor quality. not cut well etc. But I wait to be convinced…
Hungry Monkey – Bladder has new much easier opening neck- as described in the article above!
