the people who care, are the people who don't wear baggies over their lycra.
What about people who do not F****** wear lycra under their baggies. You know normal people who ride in tight boxer/pant under the baggie.Posted 2 years ago # -
"normal people who ride in tight boxer/pant under the lycra"
crikey, do normal people really wear pants under their lycra?

The ones that suffer from chafing and having nasty sweat laden cotton rubbing against their bits all ride?

Never really worried too much about clothing weight (probably should do I suppose), but there are definitely significant differences in the weight of helmets and shoes compared to the sort of weight people are trying to save on bikes - I'm afraid I'm also a bit of a weenie with those!

You do know that we are know in the 21st century, therefore you don't have to wear your granddad pants...Posted 2 years ago # -
I don't wear Grandad pants, I wear ycra cos it's the best material out there for riding a bike in. Sometimes I wear baggies over it, sometimes just the lycra.
You try doing a 24hr race in unpadded shorts or (even worse) pants under lycra then get back to me on issues of comfort...Posted 2 years ago # -
A lot of manufs do post weights. Mostly though it's climbing companies who make stuff that'll get packed in a bag for some Alpine climb where people don't want to drag any excess weight up hills.
I have a mate who knows the weights of various of his clothes because the rules for Polaris challenges state that you have to have a waterproof and waterproof trousers - but you don't often wear them, so they sit in your backpack weighing your shoulders down. If you are doing a Polaris having a 6-7lb pack makes the whole weekend very much easier than carting around 25lbs of general outdoor gear.

Plenty of air circulation which you don't get with lycra

yes but only masochists would attempt such a ghastly thing so added suffering would be a bonus...

Actually now you mention that, I have weighed some clothing!Posted 2 years ago # -
Pace had a competition many years ago where you could win a whole wardrobe of Pace clothing if you guessed the weight of their new "racing" range - lightweight shorts, mesh jerseys, enduro style lightweight waterproof etc.

String vest, carrier bag around your nethers, cotton wool sellotaped to your head and SPD cleats superglued to bare feet. Sorted.
