  • Weekly photo challenge. 25.3.13 – 31.3.13 – Dead wood and fallen trees.
  • All this snow and high winds has probably brought down a few trees.
Get out and get a picture of your bike next to one.

    The rules;
    1. Take a photo of your bike with something that matches the theme in the picture.
    2. Interpret the theme any way you like.
    3. Pictures should be taken between the dates in the topic title.
    4. If you post a picture you can either suggest a theme for next weeks challenge or vote for someone else’s suggestion. First suggestion to get two supporting votes becomes next weeks theme, probably.

Apart from being the wrong subject on the wrong date, that’s a very good attempt.
Perhaps you’d like to repost it on this thread.

Had a jaunt along the towpath today.
One badly Broken tree, One badly burnt tree and one laid out flat on the deck.

What snow? None here in Bristol…

Well, you’ll just have to go out and push one over yourself. No one will know the difference.

I say horses, seemed like every corner I went round today there was a horse or evidence of a horse being there, easier to avoid than a dog-egg though so I should be thankful.

Now a horse riding a bike would be worth seeing,
It would have to be a 29er obviously.

Or a couple of jokers in a horse suit on a tandem.
How long has this weekly photo series of threads been running for and is there a list of the subjects already covered.
To avoid being flamed for making a repeat suggestions.

    How about memorials next week.

Memorials is good for me as is trig points 😀

    Thanks for the list.

I know where there is a trig point, its blinking miles away but i am sure I could make it there and back.
Memorials, there are a few quite nearby.
Derelict could make for some interesting pics,i find deralict buildings quite haunting especialy
old factories or industrial buildings. Although there is nowhere I can think of off the top of my head.

I ran the photo challenge for while, then gave up, then started it again recently.
You can work out a list of previous subjects from this search.
No problem with repeating a previous challenge. Seasons change, people miss them for whatever reason and want another chance, so there’s no harm in going back again.

I’ll make it memorials next week then, as that’s the first to get two votes.
I prefer to leave it to others to make the choice, but it would be good to do something abstract, or cryptic, sometime. Hot & Cold, Fast & Slow, something like that.

    memorials… excellent.

This was a bit of an inconvenience when it first came down.
The whole tree is still exactly where it fell, except for a slice being taken out of the middle to clear the path.

The snow near Sheffield had caused several big trees to fall down, presumably from the added weight. This huge branch from a big old tree had come down right across the path.

Apologies for slightly blurry iPhone picture.

Trees down all over the Nevis Range trails, this was one of about 12 in this section alone. Trails are in great nick though, if you can find a section with no trees across it.

Fire Damage to the local reserve, caused by some numpty and an angle grinder in their garden. Far too close to houses, 15 fore engines and a helicopter water bomber later…

    MTG, where is that exactly?

Right by the FB on this map.
If you come in from the West, it looks like someone’s drive, you wouldn’t guess it was a BW.
From the East, it’s a narrow grass path down the side of a house. I think there is a BW sign, but it’s easy to miss if you don’t know where to look. The hill’s too steep to ride up this way.
