I don't really know why I'm fighting my corner any more, I've had one too many pissy little failures recently and am seriously considering just going proper UST...
HOWEVER
Cookeaa, there are a couple of advantages at least over Ghetto. By glueing the strip on you would (in theory) be able to inflate and seat your tyre with even the weeniest handpump, as there is nowhere for the air to leak out.
Also, although I don't 'burp' tyres often, if you 'burped' with the ghetto tub (thanks njee, its got a name now!) then you wouldn't lose any air as the glued strip would still be there.
Finally (and definitely in theory only) you could do repairs on the trail by unsticking the glued strip where you need to repair the tyre, patch the tyre, and then reglue the strip, to then inflate with your handpump again (humour me on this one...)
Plus after a couple of attempts I'll bet glueing the strip on isn't that much faff, would just require some ingenuity.
Terry, I've got 819s, just didn't fancy the weight or selection of proper UST tyres. Think I'm gonna give them a shot now though, too many ripped tyres to repair!
