[#1385702]

Spotted a crack in my 10 year old Jake the Snake frame this week, just noticed the Project 2 forks are pretty badly coroded at the drop out and inside the steerer. The old thing though much loved is now looking a bit sad and finally does need replacing. So in those cringe worthy words "what CX bike?"

i hope you mean xc. cx or "plastic maggot" to use its more common name is an entirely different can of worms that older viewers may know about 😯

Some nice cx options at the mo.
Another jake, genesis vapour, ibis hagsomething or other, tricross

all much of a muchness although the p2s on the lower spec lkonas are now showing their age IMHO.

I've got a vapour and love it.

If your groupset is still working okay, how about a cheap frame and fork from ebay. There's a few Dolan frames on there that look okay.

New jake the snake is lovely and now comes with a carbon fork which really soaks up the bumps.

giant tcx? bike would be better value than buying just the frame

The Zepnat is good value, and I think they do a cheap custom colour option as well.
The cheapest you'll get new are those Graham Weighs on Ebay, I bought one as a training build. It's not bad, but I now know what happened to all the Sherman tank welders after the war! at least it shouldn't break.
Then you just pay more and get better frames, though I'm not sure if some of the boutique frames are actually any better.
Strangely never seen a Yeti at a race, well once in the novice/short course race.

That pic has always looked a bit 'wrong' for some reason.
Rise on stem, ammount of spacers, the height of the drops looks like they're as high as the tops should be, angle of saddle and the bottom bracket shell looks as if it's very low
