I don’t think anyone is contesting whether they fit a swift.

@Gotama this is for your Swift? (If it won’t fit on yours I guess it won’t fit mine)

    whatever you say chap 😆

He said jury’s out, not they’re gash. If they definitely worked then every single rider in the peloton would use them, plus SRAM and Shimano would make them!

I’m interested to try them (elliptical rings generally). Doubt you do 88mm BCD anyway though? And I already run a 36t, so it’s not looking good!

have a chat to the goldtec chaps, they can cnc all sorts of variations. They have made a dinner plate 60 odd tooth elliptical for a track bike for some record attempt thingy wotsit.

My mate uses rotor cranks on his road bike, he can’t decide for or against them

I like the idea of having two free teeth on the crank 😉

Tazzy, count me in, I’ll have one.

Currently 32:17 and have a 19 for spinney climbing stuff so guessing a 34t based on what you’ve said so far. Using Sram XO cranks.

When will know you’ve got them or should we go direct??

    Cheers.

I’ve been running one for about a year & really like it. They last very well. They make the singlespeed pedal stroke smoother & I certainly didnt notice the 1 tooth increase I went with.

Tazzy…just out of intrest, do you think they would work if I ran two as a dingle speed ?

Humm interested, up one tooth, up two teeth, I hate these decisions 🙄

Im slightly confused by the +2t idea. A normal 4 arm crank the smallest you can (easilly) fit is a 32t, so the max leverage ratio any oval ring could have would be same as the 32 (ie. point of chain contact from centre of axle)? Does that mean that you choose a 34t oval ring as it would have more speed but same power/ability to climb as the 32?

    Thoughts?
    Ta.

Also, do they work with 9speed chain?

righty ho folks, I’ll have a chat to the goldtec boys and see what best price we can sort for a group buy. It may be easier if I can just get a code from the boys and email it to the interested parties and you can deal direct with your discount.

Last time I organised it I was a total dobber and forget to get the postage cost off folks so ended up out of pocket, but with a warm glow of spreading the wonky love. I’m a bit special like that! 😕

Tazzy, no problems, will sort it either way to suit you no problems 😀

Thanks for the update and the thread, came just at the right time for me this..

I’ll be in if the Shimano Centrelock version will fit my Middleburn cranks…

    tazzymtb

they do direct mount uno version for middleburn, or the normal ones work with the standard 4 arm 104 bcd middleburn spider.

Also interested in one of these – was just going to buy one direct, but I see they’ve put the price up now, so would be interested in how to do the group buy thing – I’d mail tazzy if I knew what his mail was…?

ready to hit the button when the price drops …

Tazzy could you put your tips on a blog and link them, (unless you have a reason to keep them private)? Posterous takes moments to set up if you need a publishing tool, or I can do it for you.

Price is showing as £34.99. Are we expecting it to go down from that? It seems to have gone up then down to the price it was before…

    I’m confusticated 😕

Yeah, does seem that someone was trying to be a bit clever there. Ah well, happy paying 35 quid for the ring so i’ll give one a try.

The rings are 45 quid. Their it gimp fluffed up when he put them on a few weeks ago. Hence the return to normal price before dropping to the discount for the next week.

Anyone know if a 36T will fit on a Swift?

    tazzymtb

Anyone know if a 36T will fit on a Swift?

yes in the outer ring position, if using standard cranks. With an uno it’ll be tight and the EBB will have limited movement (be at the front as it were)

    drofluf

Thanks – I’ll go with a 34 in that case I think. Can always put a smaller freewheel if I need to.
