Finally finished last night – just need to sort the fork out as the locknut for the 15mm QR has come loose.

Begin the flaming, I know the patio needs cleaning and fence panels are being delivered this week.

    Nice, very nice.

A child has been drawing with very fat crayons on your rims…

    😉
Very nice – I think 29 looks normal now and 26 weird

    Looks great!

Have you checked that the rear triangle is properly aligned? 😉

    That looks slick 😀
    Love the frame curves…
Did you not fancy a black fork for the ultimate stealth look?
    Awesome looking bike!

Fortunately is wasn’t made in the USA.

Edit: The only black fork I could find was a Fox Talas which I would’ve had if the frame could take a 120mm fork.

i like that.a lot 😀 (even though it has the clown wheels 😉

If Batman rode a bike, he would at least take the time to line up the valves and logos.

Yup, freakin sweet no wonder you’re the “proud father” however….pedantic singe as opposed to flame, first photo- cranks 180 out, chain on small ring and tyre and wheel logos and valves out of sync, still a nice ride !!!!! By the way , what size is that cassette it’s like a bin lid?

    LeeW

In my defence I only threw those tyres on to sort the bar/saddle height out.

Cassette is a 11/36, it looked even biggerer on my Ibis!

No, you lose a point for photographing it in it’s lowest gear. Bikes need to be photographed in the highest gear. It makes them look faster.

    FACT.

are you sure the frame is big enough? That is a lot of seat post!

Something about the aesthetics of a rear-brace fork that has never agreed with me. That’s about as much fault as I can find.

    Lovely

But how did we get to the seat top tube curves upwards to reduce stand over….

Or have better things to do that that pointless task.

A longer stem thats the right way up, and a steerer tube thats cut would make it perfect.

    Oxy… 29ers wierd not 26 !

I used to think the same but, over the last year or so I’ve started to think that 26ers look odd.

Edit, It’s a medium, I’m 5’11” with arms like a gibbon. I haven’t ridden it yet, I was finishing off the build last night when the ‘nut’ that holds the fork bolt through came loose. The 15mm qr just spins round now.

Did you get a demo Lee?

I’m 5’8″ and have a sneaky feeling medium may be too big for me.

Update after ride please & congrats in your bike. Were you not tempted by the rigid fork?

Do you mind revealing how much that build was? The only other one ive seen was 5k!

No demo, I couldn’t find one to try anywhere. The only review I’ve found is in this months ST.

Where are you based, for a Twix I may let you have a spin. If you leave me with your house/car keys and your children.

Edit: I guess around the same sort of money, The seeatpost, drivetrain (apart from the crank), brakes, bar/stem were all off my old build. The forks and Wheels were off CRC which are cheaper now as they have a better discount structure. frame was £1800 as I had to buy the bolt through rear dropouts seperately. It’s a bit offset by selling off some of my old bits. Just the 42/30 XTR crank and Tranny frame to go now.

sounds like the fork is a warrenty job – DT Swiss have had a batch of XMM 29ers go out with the collets incorrectly glued.

mine took around 2/3 weeks to sort out with Pace.

    Lovely bike though….
