I can't decide.
And I have tried, at great length, to decide which I prefer.
We finished picking the straws from the allotment, and we've just picked about 6lbs of raspberries, and I NEED to know which is best.
But all I can come up with is 'whichever happens to be in my mouth at the time' and 'strawberries are the classic English summer fruit, but raspberries may be the connoisseur’s choice'

Oh, and I think they're both best when still slightly warm from the sun.

And you're a phillistine if you put sugar on them, and should be battered with a wooden punnet.

Neither, not on their own, not together, and certainly not in a fruits of the forest yoghurt.

I prefer rasps by a long long way, but is there not a possibility that you can live in a dualist world where you like them both the same? Its not all black and white you know.

Rasps every time. They just taste nicer, and are more consistent also. A great strawb is a wonderful thing but so hard to find.

FWIW, rasberries because they are consistently better, but the best strawberries probably slightly better, but sooo difficult to find. Oh and best with a little cream and sugar

all fruit is evil. For the next 3 weeks, at least, except on Saturdays.

We've had a great strawberry crop this year, albeit some of them are quite misshapen (abit like sfb's nob end, allegedly). Raspberries, not so many but they have been so tasty.

SFB – Looking is allowed with your eyes, not your hands(or a camera with zoom lens)

Both they're marvellous with a good meringue and fresh whipped cream.

The best strawbs need nothing. Cream and sugar for those that are rubbish.

Time and place for everything IMO. A few strawberries or rasberries on their own any time – perfect. A bowl of either with a LITTLE cream and sugar after dinner, accompanied by a good single malt – also perfect

Black pepper for strawberries

Balsamic for Strawberries. Just dip you strawb before each pite (if you need more than one bite)

IMO strawberries are best for a treat but I could have raspberries every day. As a kid I couldn't understand why McD's strawberry milkshake tasted so poorly compared to the average strawberry.

Depends on the varieties.

Glen Moy or Glen Ample is about the best raspberries you can get, unless you like your rasps properly bitter, in which case try some Glen Clova.

For strawberries with flavour, Tamella is still the bench mark, however it's a dated variety which is pretty disease prone. Symphony has pretty much the same flavour but is a slightly harder fruit.
Although you're very unlikely to find either of those in supermarkets, as they all want Elsanta for it's extended shelf life (despite the fact they have **** all flavour, and some can be used as golf ball they're that tough)
