They seem to repeat all sorts of programmes nowadays. So I was thinking about the TV programmes that I watched as a kid, that I would probably watch today (from a sentimentality point of view), if they were repeated. Although I suspect that as I loved them as a kid, that they would probably be rubbish anyway!

In the late 70’s and early 80’s, I remember watching and loving the following

    1) CHiPs
    2) 240-Robert (From memory, this was made by the same people that made CHiPs)
    3) Captain Caveman (This programme was very similar to Scooby Doo)

So what programmes would you watch from a sentimentality point of view, if they were repeated today?

The Water Margin. Badly dubbed Chinese martial artsy thing with a wee morality tail thrown in. Yet to find anybody else who ever saw it which is probably one of the reasons its never repeated, if nobody apart from me watched it in the first place.

    Knightmare.

We were promised a remake goddamit! If anything would have benefited from a kick up the arse in the CGI dept, it was that programme.

I remember the Water Margin and Chelmford 123, although never watched much of either.

Personally, it doesn’t get better than The Mysterious Cities of Gold. Brought and watched it on DVD a few years ago. Still awesome.

I seem to be the only person that remembers Silas, one of the dubbed German school holiday programs. There was a kid called Silas who stole a horse (I think) and he had a mate who had a crutch.

I didn’t really like it, but I’m getting to the point where I think that I imagined it…

Oh, and they should bring back Watch.

    BATTLE OF THE PLANETS!

I loved it as a kid. It’s ok though, I have it on DVD now and my son watches it 🙂

(I remember Silas BTW – thought it was a bit crap at the time though)

I used to love The Water Margin. I think that and Monkey were on one after the other, although that could just be my rose-coloured remembering

Noggin the Nog (rather dark) and Supercar.
Nobody I know seems to recall Supercar so perhaps a figment of my imagination!

Supercar was most excellent it is one of my earliest TV memories. Forerunner to Fireball which was off the scale in terms of action & excitement 🙂

    Button Moon.

and Manimal used to give me nightmares from when he did his transformation thing, but very few other people seem to have heard of it, let alone seen it.

My favourite ever episode of the greatest, nicest, loveliest, most feel good programme ever made.

Not very long ago, in the top left-hand corner of Wales, there was a railway. It wasn’t a very long railway or a very important railway, but it was called The Merioneth and Llantisilly Rail Traction Company Limited, and it was all there was…

Ha. Chorlton & The Wheelies was ace.

I remember Chelmsford 123 too, it was the creation of Jimmy Mulville and Rory McGrath before they fell out.

Anyone remember The Tripods? That was ace too, even if there were a lot of episodes without an actual tripod featuring at any point.

Now got the Water Margin on DVD – strangely not as good as I remember as a child.

What about Marineboy and his ‘oxygum’ which allowed him to breathe underwater.

Also does any remember something called Gilbert’s fridge?

    4 Feather Falls

    I’m not that old 🙂

Bill & Ben was pretty good

What about Marineboy and his ‘oxygum’ which allowed him to breathe underwater.

Classic. I used to chew bubble gum in the swimming baths and see how long I could stay underwater.

    3) Captain Caveman

Think that used to be on one of the cartoon channels a while back, late at night (Not nickelodeon, but one of the nearby channels on $ky EPG).

Along with Hong Kong Phooey, Dangermouse, etc.
