More proud of the opportunity (thanks to a generous 40th birthday present from several of my friends) than the quality of the photos but here’s one of the better shots from my flight next to a Spitfire:

This one’s good for answering the question “how close was it?”

Not a great ‘shot’ technically, but a photo that made me chuckle!

So I found my very first camera, a Konica Pop bought for me around 1982 and on the occasion of me passing my grade three flute exam. I loved this camera and apparently it still works, although the shutter release is a little stiff.
Might have to get a roll of film and load it up for clicking mechanical happiness.

So I can’t work out which I prefer, notwithstanding the fact that I’ve not quite got the white balance/colouring right on the colour version and can’t work out why. For reference, the light was as the sun was going down so shifted far to the warm end of the spectrum.

    Thoughts?

Went up to the Lake District without my bike (I know, 50 lashes) but had a great walk with my wife and the pooch. Set off from Lancashire in fog but when we got to Cumbria…wow

    Lovely, John! Proper autumn.

I spent last weekend up in Northern Lapland. Left my camera on a bus on the way to the airport, so only had the phone camera. Quite happy with some of them, considering.

And someone handed my camera in to lost and found. 😀

Andy I faved the last image on Flickr but I don’t agree with you that it’s a lonely spot; I think it looks very peaceful (though of course I’ve not actually been there, I’m simply forming an impression based on your picture).

I do like this image. I particularly like the balance between the land and the sky; the way you’ve controlled the exposure for the sky so that the tone it creates is just dark enough to make the best of the foreground.

Been mucking around with alternative LR tone curves and the high pass filter in PS for sharpening. Quite enjoy finding new stuff to play with although, as always, it’s easy to overdo it 😉
