After doing this to my 853 Inbred I decided if I was getting it fixed I wanted to sort of the chainring clearance issues.

So I posted it to my brother with lots of pictures of Ragley chainstays and then went on holiday 🙂 this is what came back in the post yesterday, right chuffed.

All rebuilt ready for another 5 years of abuse

Nice. Was he able to just cut out the bit of chainstay to slot the 3 finger plate in or is it a whole new chainstay?

That looks very good. Sold my Inbred 853 partly as I was concerned I would end up having to have the chainstay repaired like you’ve had to…should have kept it, hindsight being a terrible thing and all that 🙁

    RestlessNative,

My own 853 has a fair amount of battle damage on the chainstay, could your brother be persuaded to save my frame for a fee perhaps ❓

Out of curiosity, how much more does it weigh now? I’m guessing about 100g. Worth every gram though!

He made up the 3 finger plate then cut the chainstay across which cut off all the damaged bit.

He’d prefer not to, it was just a bit of fun for him fixing this.

Must weigh a little more but yeah well worth it.
