Benji, can I recommend you email all print subscribers (for whom you hold an email address) to let them know about their free online content? It's in small print on the main screen and I missed this completely until I read this post and nearly missed out on the benefit. People like to be given stuff for free but you need to let them know you're giving it if you want them to be happy. And use it.

Just upgraded ...
A tenner for access to the archive is a bargain, and it will give me something to read at lunch time instead of all the old toss on the forum
Sarah sounds very nice and calm considering that she is probably having something of a mad day in the office.

If you subscribe to the mag currently you will be 'converted' to Premier Print Accounts for free. You will be able to access Premier web content BUT NOT READ THE MAGS ONLINE.
Premier content will be coming online in the next few weeks. For now Premier Print Accounts won't see anything new until we start publishing the Premier Content from next week.
If as a current Print Subscriber you want to read the mags online then it's a £5 upgrade fee, which Sarah will sort out with you on the phone. You will then become a Premier Print+Digital user
If you want to also download the PDF files as well as read the mags online then that is a £10 upgrade fee. You will then become the slightly wordy Premier Print+Digital Extra user.
The 'Digital' part means you can access the mag archive and read mags online. The 'EXtra' part means you can download the PDFs too.
ALL Premier Accounts will be sent a Premier Club Card through the post. This replaces our old Member's Club Card but does exactly the same job and gets you discounts in our shop and those of all our Partner business who are listed at the bottom of this page in the 'Premier Club' section.
This means that for the first time non-print readers will be able to get the same deals and discounts that have previously only been available to print mag subscribers.
So..
Existing subscribers... call Sarah after clicking the yellow button (more detailed instructions on what to have handy when you do). You will only be asked to pay extra if you want to access the digital versions of the mag. You will be able to read the extra stuff we publish on the site from next week.
Sorry that it's not absolutely crystal clear. It will become much clearer as the new content that we are all busily preparing right now gets published next week. We will let everyone see what sort of content we will be publishing just for Premier Users for everyone to see in the first few days so you will get chance to see if it's the sort of thing you are interested in paying extra for.
If it's not then that's totally fine. You can still use the site exactly as you have always done. The news stories will keep coming and the forum and classifieds will remain free to use. Nothing is being taken away. We are adding new stuff and only that will come with a price tag.

brooess - Good call. Thanks. I think emailing all subscribers is on the (rather large and increasing) "To-Do List" .. there's a lot to do yet

Ah, that makes more sense

I feel guilty about calling Subs Fairy today, but I left my unread mag on the EasyJet.
[edit; I was right to feel guilty, but did it anyway]Posted 2 years ago # -
Why is my button blue?
Posted 2 years ago # -
It's not really, I'm just trying to provoke some button envy...

Just upgraded my subscription with Sarah the subs fairy. The Todmorden accent has changed considerably since I last lived up North!

This reminds me of George Orwell's Animal Farm.

SO...
If I'm rude and get a temporary forum ban do I also get docked a mag issue?
Posted 2 years ago # -
Does it means the website will stay as it is?
Like I'll still get coverages of the interbike, the euro bike, the london cycle show and so and so?
Or will I have to subscribe for that (I don't really mind to be honest).Posted 2 years ago # -
Halfbee... The new forum rules at the top of the page clarify what happens with any forum bannings.. But essentially since you won;t be paying for access to the forum if you get banned from here it won;t affect your access to the Premier Account content, which is what you are paying for.
Juan, as I said before... and before that... if you don't sign-up you still get EVERYTHING you have always got. Did you get Interbike Coverage before? Yes.. did you pay for it? No.. will you still get Interbike coverage next year? Yes.. Will you pay for it? No.
This new premier Account system takes nothing away from any users. It only adds to the list of things the site can offer. It's an option EXTRA to everything we already have
Oh and BTW.. we've just opened up the next 500 so if you couldn't get in before have another go. There's now 1000 users able to sign up.

Juan - Don't worry. You'll still get the same things. Having said that, why not go for the £10 option to see if we do any content that you appreciate? It works out at about 3p or day or something

Can you not do a 1 month or 1 week free trial when you have it up and running that way we can give it a good going over before parting with the cash

What, like alot of p0rn sites do?
Err. So I'm told of course....

Is there an index or someway of searching for articles/reviews/etc in the back issues? Be great to have the back issues but may not want to trawl through them all to find specific things.
Posted 2 years ago # -
Click on the Mag Archive. Then click each issue. You get a complete run down of the content of each issue without having to be a Premier user.

It needs more zoom options. Or more easily found zoom options. It's unreadably small on the current max zoom option in the control panel on a 13" macbook pro.

Do you send to a premier user any fresh good you received on Friday that you don't need to send back to the supplier?
Posted 2 years ago # -
I think I'll stay as I am until someone tells me I'm missing something exciting! I hate reading digital mags anyway (subscribed to MBA for a year and read about 2 articles -but it was cheap)
Posted 2 years ago # -
well, I signed up.
£10 a year doesn;t seem like much of a punt and it make sme feel less guilty about buying/sellign through the classifieds with only very
occasional kebab buys...Posted 2 years ago # -

I wish we could link to the old dead site, I had a great conversation with fries about a similar business model that collimated in me getting slated & giving up my user name (banned by Chipps to be precise), its fun to see it implemented some 2 years on.
Do what you do, make a decent living & enjoy life, it's what we are all here for(the enjoy life bit).
Oh, and I want Matt back, I used to love my surreal chats with him, you seemed to of turned him in to a hermit
Best of luck chaps.

Can us folk who subscribe get some super-duper-gold-star next to our forum usernames? I want to feel all special, and a gold star next to my user name will give me that feeling of self importance I so desperately crave!
Failing that, the ability to fly would be just grand.
lots of love,
