Why not just have the proper mech hanger that fits your bike, you will have to buy one anyway when you get home.

Andy – ‘cos I have a few bikes and forget/can’t be arsed to pack the right hanger each time I go out, so it’ll live in my emergency tool box.

I quite like that, might have to get one.
