are you using a shock pump? silly question i know but some pumps dont have the twin threaded section on the pump,i for instance take a pocket pump with me (as seen in my fs stumpy add it's mounted on the frame) u can see it has the normal wind down section then a 2nd threaded part to prevent leakage when removing the pump,i'd check that or u are using both threaded twist parts 1st,Before paying out for a folk repair..if you need more details email me ill reply with close up piccies or call you to explain.

On the RP23 and the Talas on my bike, when I reduce the pressure I have to give a pump back in otherwise they just deflate. Not sure if this is normal, or just to do with the pump I've got. Might be worth a try.
