  • easton haven or nukeproof warhead bars?

Hi everyone, looking for some new bars for my five. Currently have easton ea70 bars @ 685mm wide. Looking for something wider. The nukeproofs are 760mm but could cut them down and the havens (alu) are 711mm.

How are they, finish, strength, feel etc?

Really stuck on which ones to go for!

760mm for £45 blows your haven crap out of the water and the havens seam to be real slow down hill 😉

Can I throw a wildcard into the room and suggest the Renthal Fatbars? The come in wide (780mm I think), but I’ve cut mine down to 720mm.

Out of those two I’d go for the Nukeproofs, basically because they are wider and there is more room to cut them down to the width you want.

There’s lots out there to choose from but I’d challenge anyone to find a lighter wider bar for cheaper than the nukeproofs.

Monkey lites DH only available in high rise 711 though which is why they have been replaced with the wide low boys. For sale for £40 Hugh if you wana try them.

To throw another contender into the mix, Answer Pro Taper here, new 2011 ones are looovely and come in 720(AM) or 780(DH) widths. I went for these (780DH) over the Nuke Proofs as they come in a 1/2″ rise which is perfect.

The Easton Haven Carbon Riser bar is Easton’s lightweight all-mountain composite bar, with a full 711mm of bike controlling width. At 170 grams it’s seriously lightweight, with a 20mm rise and five-degree sweep to keep you riding low and loose. The ultimate hardcore handlebar.

CheesybeanZ – the OP said aluminium Havens. They are a lot heavier.

How do you measure rise? I have the Easton cnt that came in the five performance pack, I like there low rise but want something wider.

Are the 20mm rise nukeproofs about the same rise as my Easton monkey lite cnt thingies?

Just fitted the Easton Haven Carbon 11’s, not had chance to test them yet, incredibly light though.

Measure from the centre of the bar clamp directly upwards until it’s in line with the centre of the part you put the grips on. They’re normally done in half inch increments.

“low rise” is *normally* 1″ or 1/2″

Oh and another thing: CRC have (or at least had) Blackspine flats at 800mm for under £40. very good bars, come in a load of anodised colours as well.
