I'm just about to fit a FSA Carbon-pro seat post to my Merlin Malt 1 Frame using a QR clamp. Is there any need for prep of the frame or post to fit correctly..ie grease, lubrication etc?

Cheers in advance
Andy

I have the same post. I found the best method is to insert the post into the seat tube, adjust to appropriate height, then tighten clamp.

Eerily simple really...

It's just that i have heard differing stories when using a cabon seatpost. Some provide & say use some sort of 'goo', some say grease and other recommend going on dry ๐Ÿ™‚ Just wantted to know which is the prefered method.

Cheers

Dont use grease - it softens the resin in the post and causes it to bond the post into the frame. Use carbon paste instead.

Yep - carbon paste. It "grips" a bit, so you need less pressure from the clamp.
