I've stayed at Urr Lodge hostel – just outside Dalbeattie. It's got a huge purpose built bike shed and the hostel itself is comfortable enough. The only other hostel type place I know of is Minigaff SYHA by Newton Stewart, but that's handier for Kirroughtree. There are also 4 person pods at Mabie and I think there are some wigwams on the other side of Dalbeattie; I haven't stayed at either of these, but I'm sure Trekster or another of the locals will be along to confirm details of these options.

Can't help on accomodation but if you stay in the hostel near Haugh of Urr you should definitely pay a visit to the Laurie Arms – great local food and a CAMRA award winner for the beer.
