For an '07 S-works Stumpjumper frame (193.7mm i2i, 41.3mm stroke)
The AFR rear shock with brain unit is okay after a service, but its not that long before the brain feels like its stopped working again. The bag of internals I've had back with it after each service suggests somethings not quite right
Its feels a bit firm in the initial part of the stroke for any kind of seated comfort, wallows into pumpy type lumps, dives up/down a bit on rocky/lumpy ups and doesn't feel like it wants to ramp up very much at the top end
I've tried it as per the 22-28% sag reccomendation (they supply a sag measuring tool). Any higher pressure and its very firm, any less and it wants to bottom out very easily
Oh and it weighs as much as a piggyback DHX air, around 450g
I think the service charge (needed to keep the warranty) has gone up again. A quick search looks like I could get a new shock for not thaaat much more, though I'd probably need to send it off to tf tuned etc.. plus parts
I'm making an assumption that its possible to travel spacer a rear shock by 22mm (to get 194mm i2i, 41mm stroke - ie 0.3mm of each original dimension)?
Assuming its possible to have rear shock travel reduced, what are my options, whats good whats bad?
Fox - which one - a quick look not finding loads of 216mm 63mm
Rockshox Monarch - which one?
Manitou Swinger/evolver etc ?
What else?
